1st Gen STUCK ON RED PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

    hellow my fellow forum go'ers, i am new to this forum as well as poemon games, but i LOVED the pokemon anime as i kid!

    I currently only own a broken copy of gold, pinball, and the original red, but recently i got to a point, and well i have no clue what to do! is there anything that can be done to advance further?? so i'm at the part were Bill gives the s.s. Anne ticket and i fought a couple times and i balcked out i don't thing there's anything besides battles on there right? so I went through the terrible digglett cave only to find i need flash move to continue. wonderful! all that battle for nothing! now here's where i'm stuck to my knowledge the only way to get flash is to get it from oak in pallette town- the only way to get to palette town? you have to cut a tree. despite beating misty and being told i can use cut out of battle, i can wlak up to the tree till the cows come home and wildly tap as many buttons as i like, but there is NO way to use cut (again to my knowledge) no "this tree can be cut" prompts or any chnace of doing anything.

    so i'm guessing i just have to use gameshark and "float" over the tree? any useful cheats or solutions are WIDELY ppreciated
     
    Ah... You Need The HM Cut And Then teach it to your pokemon THEN Use CUT by pressing A Infront of the Tree.

    well of course, but where would i get this? its not in my inventory and i can only move between saffron city, vermillion city, the s.s.s anne, the field, digglett cave, and route 11 (which is currently blocked at the end by the sleeping pokemon)
     
    You have to talk to the Captain on the SS Anne. He will give you the HM Cut. Teach it to one of your Pokemon and then press A in front of a cuttable tree.
     
    In Red, you can't just press A against the tree. You have to press Start, Pkmn, and then select the Pokemon with Cut and use it. Anyway, you can find HM01 Cut on the SS Anne after curing the captain's belly ache, like said by everyone else. Next time, please use the simple Q&A thread. No need to panic.
