I think there should be a topic starting thread where people start topics and discuss a bit and decide if they want to work on it together.

    Example:

1: "What if there was a game about when Oak and Agatha were kids, since they used to be rivals"
2: "What if its set in a different region sort of like in they did in the fangame Pokemon Scarlet"
1: "Or there could have been Pokemon in Kanto that aren't there now"
3: "Cool Idea, I can sprite, need my help?"

I just think it would be a hell of a lot easier than the recruitment board since you could gradually ease into the topic and talk it over and find a team.

meh, everyone has their own ideas. That way, you'd have a ton of people of variety of skills, and you can't take a very individualist approach to it. Then there's the ideas, as everyone else think something different is cool, and if its that much say into it then you find that the project goes nowhere.

I guess I'm rambling a bit now... But simply put, overall progress over time will be largely hindered because the leadership role, or the one who has devised the concept of the game and directing it through its progression, becomes a whole team effort. Although a good idea on first thought, this will likely bring about too much conflict on subjects like ideas and such. That conflict will slow progress and causes a lot of shifts in production, further hindering it.

The other point also deals with the lack of an individualistic approach. The variety of skills becomes mixed, and that turns to deter involvement for more veteran and skilled members from adding to the conversation. Soon enough, the thread becomes filled with mainly rookies. The majority of the games there are bound to fail and/or be of considerably low quality, like with most rookie developments due to that lack of real experience.
