Before you tell me this Pokemon will be knocked out by Sturdy,
may I inform you that if I find a Pokemon with Sturdy, it is very easy to switch Pokemon.

    Timid Articuno holding Quick Claw
Mind Reader (maxed out Power Points)
Sheer Cold (maxed out Power Points)

I have maxed out its speed and all remaining in Defence.
Here are its other two moves, just to fill in empty space:

    Ice Beam
    Hidder Power Fire

So what do you think of my silly strategy? Will it last in battle?

Articuno is along with the most useless legendary, together with Moltres and Jirachi ;_; sadly enough that is true... excellent stats only with one of the worst type combination possilbe to screw it over. Ice/Flying is the 2nd worst type combination possible, next to Marcargo's ugly rock/fire weakness in my opinion.

Use that moveset. It's the best it can do already... and it still can't last long because of the heavy rock slide abuse out there, and being weak to many other elements as well.

in my opinion articuno is more useful than zapdos. it has great defense. no body can talk me out of my opinion

Who ever makes the games can. Everyone know Articuno is useless unless its an OHKOer. Seeing how you give off the impression that probably don't play much, I wouldn't think you know much about stats =(.

Articuno is the most useless legendary alive ;_; (Jirachi is officially better, as it can stall better and has wish for team support) It got great stats, only with one of the worst type combination in the game possible (next to fire/rock) to screw it over.

However, in 2vs2 that saying is probably true. Blizzard is so powerful and with STAB, Articuno is indeed more useful than Zapdos who can only have single target moves (but 2vs2 sucks so this fact is quite useless.)

Articuno is easily the MOST useless legendary, as it cannot even withstand the OUs. Articuno is a high stated UU with a x2 weakness to almost every common elementals out there, yet no resistance besides towards ground either (and what ground Pokemon doesn't have rock slide/rock blast?)

Like I said, only in 2vs2 can it possibly do some good, and it's still terribly weak because rock slide is a multitarget move and is heavily abused for double flinching purposes. This means that Articuno is screwed.

Well IMO moltres is the most useless........
it can't learn anything but fire blast and sunny day

Poor arty he was totally screwed interms of type..........
oh well he still rules in my books.

and with the insurge of rockslide abusers this guy is now hopeless.......

Moltres has crap type, but so does Magneton and it can kick just as much tail.

If it has Charcol, max Sp.Atk and Speed, Sunny Day, Overheat, Agility, and HP Special it can dish out a massive amount of damage. Even to Blissey or Pokemon with type advantage. Articuno on the other hand can't really fight at all, making it the worst legend. Even Entei has more use that it does.

Entei got calm mind to save itself, and it's a good sunnybeamer. It also has pseudohazing abilities just like the birds do too. Entei isn't that bad, but it's just overshadowed by its brother Raikou. If Raikou doesn't exist, Entei is definitely a possibility at taking up Raikou's spot.

Moltres is still the 2nd strongest sp.atker in game (darn Kyubar who stole it from Moltres). Just use Spike Razzor's set but with white herb instead and you'll be surprised at Moltres's strength. Moltres can sweep this way and will dominate until it meets up with Pokemon with immunity/resistances to overheat.

Magneton's type isn't too bad at all. It's only weak to ground, fire and fighting with quite a bit of immunities.

If you want to use Articuno this way, I suggest you make him new best friends with Umbreon:

    Umbreon@Leftovers
    Nature: +Def/Sp Def, -Att
EV: HP max, Def, Sp Def
    Mean Look
    Baton Pass
    Double Team
    Faint Attack

This set gets destroyed by Taunters so be careful. First, pick your opponent carefully, and if they don't switch, Mean Look them. Double Team a few times (don't need all 6, 1 or 2 is fine), then baton pass. Voila, they can't switch out to avoid the Mind Reader/Sheer Cold.

Articuno can even be replaced with 2 other Pokemon, Smeargle (who can either use Spore and/or Mean Look himself), and Poliwrath (which nowadays cannot learn Fissure).

if you got an Umbreon starting double team safely, might as well double team all the way? o.O; and if you're doing this, let Cuny hold brightpowder to boost double team.

Everyone likes Blizzard on Articuno, but what about Mind Reader and Sheer Cold?
    Both move with maxed PP?
Together, they could sweep away most the opponent's team, and then
when/if it is defeated, the rest of your team could wipe it out!

Err... we've mentioned sheer cold and mind reader so many times already. And Blizzard is NOT preferred, but just that it's so far a PC-only moveset. Everyone else has ice beam.
