- I'd say something clever, but you'd expect that.

I'm suprised nobody posted a Platinum team yet.
I'd like to get back into the competitive battling scene so I'd like you guys to help me with a team that been doing pretty well on the offical server lately and so without further ado:
Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 32HP / 252SpA / 224Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power Ice
- Overheat
- Stealth Rock
Scarftran. Great speed coupled with ferocious firepower makes Heatran a prime candidate for a lead. Stealth Rock may look a bit out of place on a Choice set, but it aids me in scouting for any counters should my opponent switch and it also prevents me from using the wrong move at the wrong time, like giving opposing Heatran a Flash Fire boost from Overheat, for example. Heatran generally stays until late game where it can serve as my primary revenge killer to common threats like Lucario and Skymin.
Salamence @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 80HP / 252Atk / 176Spe
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Flamethrower
- Outrage
After Heatran gets the ball rolling with Stealth Rock, Salamence comes around the corner and starts wrecking stuff with CB Outrage. Dragon Claw is safer and is a better attack option earlier in the game. Flamethrower helps scorch Scizor and Skarmory out of the sky.
Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4HP / 252SpA / 252Spe
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Trick
Oh yes. Gengar in junction with Heatran can revenge kill most of the threats in the game. Immunities to Normal, Ground, and Fighting make switching this baby in a fairly simple task. Platinum gifted Trick onto Gengar as a nifty little tool that can cripple an opponents Blissey or other special walls.
Skymin @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252SpA / 252Spe / 4SpD
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Air Slash
- Earth Power
- Seed Flare
- Substitute
Aawww Skymin's pretty cute <3. Anyway, Substitute helps ease prediction with Timid Scarftran should my opponent sport one and Earth Power gives it a good kick back into its Pokeball. With Heatran out of the way, a Lucario sweep should be easy peasy.
Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252Atk / 252Spe / 4SpD
Jolly nature (+Spe, -SpA)
- Close Combat
- Extreme Speed
- Ice Punch
- Swords Dance
SD Lucario neatly cleans up the remains of what my other team members left behind. Ice Punch is a godsend, now Lucario has an immediate answer to Zapdos and Celebi. Jolly is necessary to outrun neutral Salamence and other base 100s.
Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 236HP / 56Def / 216Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
One of my more defensively oriented Pokemon. Starmie nicely patches up my Gyarados weakness and provides Spin support so Skymin and Salamence can switch in with ease. Suicide leads are put to shame by this.
Possible Threats:
DDOutrage Salamence - Most versions of Salamence will outspeed Heatran after a speed buff so I'm contemplating about HP Ice > Thunderbolt on Gengar just in case.
Skymin - It's all about prediction, if I predict wrong and Heatran comes in on a Earth Power, I just got my ass handed to me.
SubCM Mismagius - This thing's a beast! My team just dies to it ;__;
Any help concerning these threats or anything above is greatly appreciated!
