"Team Shocker" Episode Discussion

I watched the episode this morning and somehow, recorded it. It was good. It was the first DP:Battle Dimension Episode I watched. Looks like a good series. And Dawn seemed pissed since she didn't get to the 2nd round. And when Kenny left, he seemed kinda mad at Dawn because she was sad,

The ending of this episode was a bit early, I thought of the time it turned out 9:54. The backround music for Kenny performence round 1, was surpirsing for me. I like the other music backround when it was Jap. Still with that weird clown noise from Abipom. When it was Jap for this contest, I did not understand why Dawn didn't make to the next round. But now with the English Dub, I understand why Dawn didn't make it. Anyway, I would give this Dub one a 7/10 And once again Dawn lose another contest.

This was one of those episodes where I had channel on and felt too lazy to change it, so I sat down and watched it. I thought it was alright, the "rainbow swift" and all the other contest combos were kinda cool. We also see Dawn lose another contest, but unexpectively, to those who didn't see the Jp episode ahead of time, Jesse wins and then Dawn learns another contest lesson. Overall, pretty good episode, not sure if I'll see more in the future.

Well since I saw the JP episode I wasn't to surprized but the Dub helped me understand. Anyway:

- I <3's Ambipom!
- OMG Dawn lost again! XD
- Poor Dawn....
-That Rainbow Swift was beautfiul but Dawn kinda overdid it to much, so much so she forgot that Ambipom was the real star, not the swift
-Live and let learn.. lmao
- Where the heck did Zoey come from?!
-Kenny's breloom was awesome
-ZOMG!! Jessie WON a contest!!!
-Jessie overdid it with Dustox, but then again she wouldn't be Jessie if she didnt overdo it
-Damn she lost 3 contests, but looking back on May, May did better then she did XD
-No Need to Worry, but Dawn is still pissed off
-Satoshi's eyes shake when he sees Dawn shaking her fist! lol
-Of Course Ash knows more then anyone how losing can feel

Awesome episode, I give it a 9.3/10 Dawn should have won, but of course she lost so I guess we can get over it. lol

They give a good reason for Dawn losing this time! Aha. Not much to say again

- Dawn didn't get to the 2nd round AGAIN!?
- Yay Jessie! Although I thought the battles went over quickly
- Dawn's upset
- Oh, at least there's an explanation this time. I'm satisfied
- 7 original BGM were kept...they're keeping it low :( I feel like saying what they are

(about Jessie's appeal)
Brock: It's always the same with her

- WTF Brock!? She always flies around the contest hall!?

I think Jesses oh excuse me, Jessolina, should go screw herself! She has no purpose for enetering contests. I wonder what Kenny is gonna say to Dawn in the next episode about her "attitude"

Okay, here we go:

I admit, I already knew what was going to happen to Dawn in this episode (thanks to spoilers from here, actually >.>) but it was still fun to see why. When I first saw Dawn emphasizing Swift so much, I had thoughts back to one of May's contests with Skitty. That thought was stronger after something Dawn said, and I was surprised at Brock's response (note: may be paraphrased):

Dawn: "This time, we're going to focus on showing off one move."
Brock: "Good idea."

The connection here is that May attempted an appeal using Assist almost exclusively, and almost lost because of it. Even after that, Brock is telling Dawn that she should try the exact same idea that failed May before.

At least the writers are being more realistic with Dawn, though. It's only natural for a beginner to lose some of their first contests, as opposed to May's one loss then long win streak. >.> I actually appreciate it, as it provides more material for Dawn's character development as we see her fight through the losses.

...Ugh, I would say more, but......my brain's failing me right now, so I'll stop here for the moment.

I think Jesses oh excuse me, Jessolina, should go screw herself! She has no purpose for enetering contests.

Ah, the naivete of new people...

She enters the contest because she wants the fame, and the fame the group believes it would bring Team Rocket by association. At least, that was how it started. This was explained very clearly in Hoenn. Please research and think before complaining, thank you very much.

Yeppie!!! Jessie loves fame and wants more of it. Teeheehee Still after seeing that episode, I think Jessie was doing it all for herself. Teeheehee What really got me was that Mr. Contesta acted like he knew her. I guessing Jessolina is here to stay!!! YAY!!!!

SU!!! I didn't get to see the full episode since half of it was only recorded. SU!!! It seemed like they started the epiode early or something.

Still from what I saw, it was way too much on Swift and really I think I had too much of that attack now. I got to see the end of the appeal and I really saw the judges didn't like it.

What I didn't like was the cutting off of the battles to allow more Dawn and Zoey time which was kinda short in itself too. I mean Zoey just talked to Dawn for like five seconds and then episode ended.

What I did like was that thsi was another lost for Dawn and even though this may be a bit long but it seems like Sinnoh is going to be long itself. Also Jessie got some much needed love!!! I mean she finally won a a ribbon. Now I guess it is up to the writers to make this into something really coolies.

Stil what really made me sad during this episode was dustox. I know this is a spoilor in itself but when I saw Dustox, I was sad because I know that this was going to be his last battle and just seeing that smile on his face, I felt really sad for her since it looked like it was going to be the last battle for her. SU!!!! I guess this contest was going out with a bang.

Dawn lost because of using only one attack for the appeal, that's true that May almost lost the same way.

Remember in the Hoenn Grand Festival, Harley tricked May into thinking Skitty should only use one attack and she almost lost the appeal until she stopped listening to him and did something different.

Actually, Dawn used Double Hit as well. The Swift attack totally obscured Ambipom though, and causing Dawn to lose because the appeals were not just to show off attacks, but to make the Pokémon stand out from the lot too.

I liked this episode, but it was okay for me at best. There were parts where they were just downright irrtating (James & Meowth moments), but overall it turned out fine.

May also used Blizzard. The comparison is still legitimate...although the Brock=Harley comparison is a bit...disturbing.

Five seconds? More like five minutes, methinks.

Though, that reminds me of something else: why did Zoey have to show up at all? I mean, Kenny was right there, so they could have had him explain it. Even better, why not have Nurse Joy, one of the actual judges, explain it to the group? Zoey was tossed in specifically for the explanation, and I don't like that.

Oh, and Ash also stole her catchphrase, which probably jinxed her. :p

This was a very nice episode.
Sure Dawn lost, but, just like everyone else said, she learned a valuable lesson ^^

Just one side note, James and Meowth were a pain in this episode.. not even close to funny...

Jorah said:

Maybe what he said got lost in translation? oh well.. I'll wait for the comparison and see xD

Anyway, 9/10
It was a good one ^^

Dawn lost because of using only one attack for the appeal, that's true that May almost lost the same way.

I haven't seen many of May's contests pre-Battle Frontier, but from what I can remember, it's that Assist didn't show off Skitty's personality, it was just using other Pokemon's moves. Dawn was using one move as well, but you couldn't see Ambipom, which the moves are supposed to be showing off. So they lost for different reasons (if May lost that one, I can't remember)

You mean the episode "Deceit and Assist!"? Yeah. May almost lost that one. Good thing she recovered well.

I enjoyed James and Meowth's moments in this episode. Still it didn't made sense to me why they were scared but I guess that it would have helped if I saw the first part of the episode. teeheehee

I really agree. Zoey was kinda just place in their randomly. Still I don't think Kenny would have fit in explaining why Dawn lost. It just doesn't seem like him to know that kind of things since it seems like he is more intrested in teaching his pokemon new moves and using to show off his pokemon then to actaully know things like that. Maybe if the writers had made it where Zoey was there in town but on competing then that would have been better since it made sense that she went to see Dawn after the contest.

I think that Zoey was used instead of Kenny because Dawn might have been furious at him even if he said the same thing. Since they knew each other since childhood, she might have lashed out at him without thinking. Zoey was a safe sounding board/critic/coach that Dawn needed.

With Jessie's win, we are going to need at least 8 contests for both to be in The Grand Festival. Of course that would mean Dawn would need to lose four more times, but you can't have everything. :1:

We've had about 4 contests already with only 2 badges, they're probably going to be able to fit in 8 more contests. Kenny and Zoey don't have to win their's on screen

Plus, in Hoenn, they made up towns just for Contests (the middle Contests), so with Sinnoh being so expansive, it wouldn't be a leap. Or off-screen, as Jorah alluded to, as it's been a while since we had that happen.
