[Scripting Question] Temporarily changing trainer OW sprite

So I was wondering how to temporarily change the overworld sprite of the trainer, for instance how HG/SS had the Pokémon as the main overworld sprite for the Pokeathon, but would change it back after the game was finished. Does anyone know how to do that?
