When i went to the bike shop in mauville city i took the acro bike because of the tricks. THen when i did loads of bunny hops in tall grass, i didn't get as much wild pokemon trying to battle me. i was astonished when i found this out, cause i thought that there was only repels that could stop pokemon jumping out, but i was soooo wrong.
    pokemaniac93, over and out.

Moving this to a place where it's more fitting.

That's interesting...I've never really experimented but this is good to know. Although it could be good if you don't really want to be stopped by a poke every 5 seconds. I usually use the Acro though anyways. Thanks for the info pokemaniac93!

Oh I wana try that one out!
Mauville is the city with the electrice gym right?

    Yup, thats the one.
I did notice that once. Which is why I stoped using the acro bike.
    I prefer speed anyway. ^^

Well, I am getting that bike now that I know that. I am tired of running into noob Poke'mon.

Actually, I'm fairly sure that *ahem* Dude is right. The Acro bike's bunny hopping is the slowest form of transportation besides walking, and the faster you move, the faster wild Pokemon appear. Since the Acro Bike moves slowly, wild Pokemon still appear in the same quantity, but they appear so slowly that it feels like their appearance must have been reduced. I'm fairly sure that walking would give you the same result.

If you think of it in a weird way why would pokemon want to come around if you are jumping on them instead of bumping into them. Anyways, it's a good way to earn more time in the Saffari zone because it doesn't waste any of your very limited steps. You can jump for days so long as you keep your charger plugged in.

I just tried it and, you guys are right. It just reduces the rate at which the Poke'mon come. It is slower than walking.

Yeah I thinks that is true, Walking is about as slow as bunny hopping using the Arco Bike

Another problem is that there is limited money in the game. (Unless you cheat) which is highly unlikely. So, basically staying out of grassed areas would work better.

I'm sorry but I think thats not true. It's all in your head dude.

I agree with dude_dude because everytime you run intograss or a place where wild pokemon can be found the time intervals in which you find pokemon differ each time. The fact that you were on the bike and not finding any pokemon could have just been coinsidence. I think that its in your imagination but im glad to see that people are trying to find new things about the games.

I tried that once for the sake of it but I didn't really notice a difference. I just buy repels, work good for me!

    Yup!

This is true that such a thing is possible put personally I just get the Mach Bike and buy some Max Repels to get me to where I want to go faster. I suppose that if you are low on money then that might be the way to go.:)

wow I never knew that, I'm going to test this and see if it works and I hate wild Pokemon sometimes

Okay, this little theory seemed bogus to me so I thoroughly tested it and discovered that I was right. This whole thread is complete bunk. Every time you change tiles in the grass, a calculation is made to determine if you encounter a wild Poke or not. Bunny-hopping has no effect on this whatsoever. It just seems less because you are going so much slower.

Now, for a few other goodies in this thread:
If you think of it in a weird way why would pokemon want to come around if you are jumping on them instead of bumping into them. Anyways, it's a good way to earn more time in the Saffari zone because it doesn't waste any of your very limited steps. You can jump for days so long as you keep your charger plugged in.
The more effective way to earn more time in the Safari Zone is to bike to where you want to catch Pokes, get off the bike, and then move up and down or left and right in the same tile. When you do that, you don't waste any steps at all. Plus, it is much faster than bunny hopping so you encounter wild Pokes more frequently.

yeh, but i wud rather spend the 500 for super repel, afterall, extra 200 bux for extra 50 steps is bull...(maxrepel)..
Actually, if you do the math, you are paying the same amount in going from Repel to Super Repel.

    Repel = $100 for 100 steps
    Super Repel = $500 for 200 steps
    Max Repel = $700 for 250 steps

So even with SR you are dishing out $200 for 50 extra (actually $400 for 100 steps). You can purchase FIVE Repels to walk 500 steps, instead of the 200 steps you get with ONE SR. The benefit of SR (and mostly MR) though, is the luxury of going more steps without having to be interrupted with using an item again.

Another problem is that there is limited money in the game. (Unless you cheat) which is highly unlikely. So, basically staying out of grassed areas would work better.
There is unlimited money in the game, without having to cheat. I always have at least $800,000 (unless I go on a shopping spree) on hand. You can easily get money by battling trainers (Gabby the Reporter and the Weak5 are ALWAYS available) or you can get a team of Pokes that have the Pickup Trait (Zigzagoon, Linoone, Phanpy, Meowth, Aipom, Teddiursa) and they will randomly pick up items when you battle wild Pokes in the grass (ironically) that you can sell at the local Poke Mart for even more cash. I have more Nuggets and Rare Candies than I know what to do with.
