It's a story I just finished up.
I CALL IT: BRAGGING RIGHTS: THE MINI-SERIES.
It's similar to Mario Kart on the tracks, but otherwise it's completely unrelated.
If y'all don't like it, I won't post it. So, (I hope you) enjoy!
FIRST CHAPTER!!
"The impossibly awesome, magnificently epic, undoubtedly awe-inspiring Rainbow Competition! Open to all racers of any age! Pick one of eight cups: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, and Light Tan!
"The winner of each cup receives not only a 5'8" trophy of that part of the competition, but also $1000, the rights to part of Dippy City for three days, and really awesome bragging rights.
"So come on, come all, to the Open Park Recreation Center to sign up by June 5!!"
Isa read the billboard out loud and instantly wanted in. She could really use some bragging rights.
She ran out of school and knocked down Georgie, Maysie, and Poopsie (they're triplets); Billie and her ugly-yet-ornery-boyfriend-who-no-one-else-liked Abrafo; Bravo, the resident bully (who yelled "I'll get you, ISA!!!"); and she almost knocked down Besart. Besart was a smart, pleasant kid, but the odd thing about him was his interesting… ears. They were just so pink; luckily they were almost always hidden by his somewhat wild hair.
"Sorry, Besart, but I need to go hurry up and join that racing competition!" Isa quickly bowed in apology.
"What, the Rainbow Competition?" Besart asked.
"Yeah. I really need those bragging rights," Isa said. "So see ya!"
"Good luck!" Besart yelled as Isa ran off.
Isa signed up for the Indigo Circuit. Of all the colors, she liked the sound of Indigo best.
As soon as she signed up, she ran home into the garage to get a good look at Bernadette, her old motorbike. At first, Bernadette had started out cream white, but then Isa decided to change her color. She couldn't decide between olive, baby blue, and tan. But she eventually decided on baby blue. Who paints a motorbike tan anyway?
Isa spit on a rag and gave Bernadette a good cleaning; if Bernadette could talk, she would have been pleased. Berny, as Isa sometimes called her, had a gleaming baby blue chassis, with silver everywhere else!
Isa jumped on Bernadette and gave her a go-round in her back yard.
Bernadette still rode smoothly and perfectly, like a newborn baby's belly.
A couple of weeks later, the day had come. It was June 5, and Isa was ready for the first race.
She rode Bernadette over to the entrance gate to the first course of the Indigo Cup. There were eleven other races present when a tall, skinny man with a cool mustache walked out. Isa hopped on Bernadette.
"OK, here are the rules, kids!" The skinny man yelled. "You take your machines –any racing machine will do – and you go around the entire course ten times. Those are called 'laps'! Once you go around ten times, you're finished racing. There are several items for use on the racing course, and I shall list them:
"THE ICE CREAM CONE! This otherwise delectable treat can be used to slip up your opponents as they run over it. It'll get caught in their tracks, wheels, and whatever.
"THE RUBBER BAND! You can sling this at other drivers to cause a nasty sting on their part and distract them on the road."
"Hey, can we chew on the rubber bands?" one driver asked.
"Sure," the skinny man said.
"Anyway, let me continue…
"THE MAGIC STICK! If this stick makes contact with either the ground or another racer, it'll explode in the inverse color of this race. In this case, the explosion will be a goldish color!!
"THE CLOAKING CHIP! This item will make you invisible –but not pass-through. It lasts for about a minute.
"THE THROWING MALLET! You will have two fat hammers for throwing at others.
"THE BOX OF NAILS! Throw this out onto the track and it'll pop the tires of your opponents. It won't work on hovering machines.
"And last, but not least…
"THE RAINBOW LOLLIPOP! This pick-up item is rarely seen on the race courses. Putting this in your machine – in your MACHINE, not your mouth –and you'll get a pleasant speed-up for your engine, in this race only.
"And that's all there is to know. Pick three different items; get in your positions; and GOOD LUCK, racers!"
