The Girl season pattern

Personally, I believe the only reason Misty was in there for so long was because it wasn't until third gen that they decided to have the main girl in the game be Ash's companion. The only time Kris is shown in the anime is in the Legend of Thunder Special, under a different alias, Marina, and with a retarded personality. (I'm sorry to any fans she may have, but I utterly detest Kris's non-game incarnations.) I think Dawn will end up lasting until a, more than likely, fifth gen appears and she gets replaced by the next gen heroine.

Even then, they ignored Leaf completely, not even allowing her to join Ash's team despite having the perfect opportunity to do so nearing the end of Season 8. I mean, how they treated Leaf during Season 8/9 (and keeping May in despite they're having already created a suitable female protagonist for Battle Frontier Kanto) was the reason why I doubted that the writers would allow Marina into the Anime, regardless if she appeared during Gold/Silver or waited until Crystal to appear.
 
I know why they keep switching them but really they should give them more time, not less, otherwise you don't have the same long term connection when they finally replace the character.

I always thought they left her out of the anime because she wasn't in the original Red and Blue versions; but even still you'd think they would at least give her a cameo like Brendan and Lucas!
 
Yeah, it would've been cool if she had a cameo or something. But what would she do if she joined Ash? Another co-ordinator? :/
 
I's agree that they wont get rid of Dawn right away, but she's breaking major boundaries: Such as catching an Electric type Pokemon, and evolving a Pokemon twice, before her last season/before Ash.

I can understand that being the reason... IF I was talking about the first season. I was talking about the Battle Frontier saga, where they were going through Kanto, allowing the Kanto characters/Johto characters to shine, and all that. I mean, why put the Battle Frontier in that place if not to advertize FireRed and LeafGreen?

Besides, I wanted May ousted anyways, so even if it meant Leaf appearing for Battle Frontier instead of Misty, it would at least get May off.

I mean, at least Marina got cameos and a special, Leaf got zip.

@Jorah: Considering how they decided to just make Dawn a coordinator, basically rehashing AG among other things, yes, they'd most likely make her a coordinator.

But she was in a special and her cameo was in Movie 9 along with cameos in the animé. But personally, I do wish they brought her in during the Johto seasons.

I think Trap_eds was referring to Leaf when he said that, not Marina.

Hey, I would have felt it ok that she appeared in the anime as a main character, just as long as they DON'T give her that stereotype. However, considering how Leaf was pretty much neglected, despite Late season 8/season 9 being the perfect opportunity to bring her in and replace May (The only thing similar to Emerald was the Battle Frontier, anyways. other than that, not much else.)

Oh God, no. I don't get why every girl who joins Ash wants to/is a coordinator. Why can't there be one main girl character who actually collects badges for once? Like as a rival or something?

They just wanted to delay the debut of the DP series so that they can air it along with the DP game, cuz they're not done making the game yet. (That sucks so much.)

But Leaf SHOULD have a cameo! She's the only female MAIN playable character that has not appeared in anywhere! (I am not counting the side stories, i.e. Kate, so don't say that some other girl hasn't appeared)

Having two trainers traveling together and collect gym badges is not a good idea.
Because every gym battle needs to be done twice, one for Ash and one main girl character.
And what if Ash or the main girl character looses a gym battle?
I don't mind sitting it out for one time, like they did with Paul/Shinji and Ash battles against Roark, but I definately do not want to see that for all 8 gym leaders.
