    CHAPTER 1
It was going to be the biggest day in his life; Kai was finally going to be a Pokemon trainer. He had been dreaming of this day ever since his brother left to be a pokemon master five years ago. It was about nine at night and Kai could hardly sleep, all could think about was going to professor Oaks house and getting his starter. All sorts of thoughts raced through his head. The hardest was which one to choose. He sat up all night trying to decide between Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.

The big day was here, Kai's mum came up to his room to wake him up but the effects of staying up late kick in and Kai fell back into bed. A few minutes his dad went into his room to wake him up. Kai was sleeping like a log he wouldn't wake up. His mum whispered into his ear that all the pokemon were chosen and he would have to wait until next year. Like a rocket, Kai sprang out of bed and like a bullet, he ran to the bathroom to get ready. "Hey mum you were only joking about the pokemon being chosen?" Kai asked worried. His mum nodded as she began packing.

The world seemed to stand still as Kai walked to professor Oaks lab. When he finally reached professor Oaks house, he took a deep breath before entering. He walked into professor Oaks lab as proud as ever thinking he was the first person there. "I've thought about it long and hard. I've decided to choose Charmander," said Kai. Professor stood by the three pokeballs trying to explain something to Kai. "Stop beating around the bush what is it," Kai asked. Professor Oak was a kind man and he found it very hard to tell Kai what happened. "You're late," Oak finally said after thinking of what to say. Kai worst nightmare had come true; he really missed out on his pokemon.

Kai took a slow walk to the pond near Pallet. He sat at the edge of the pond skipping stones holding tears of disappointment and anger. As he was tossing stones into the pond, he heard a familiar voice. "I'm really sorry you didn't get your starter pokemon," she said trying to comfort him. "I thought you said I wasn't late," he with a sad voice. "Professor Oak said that they beat you by at least five minutes," she said trying to ease the pain. Kai got up and started walking home.

Just before Kai could enter his house, he heard professor Oak calling his name. Kai looked down the road and saw professor on a bicycle coming towards him. Professor Oak tried to brake in front of Kai's house but the brakes failed and he crashed into a tree. "Are you okay?" Kai asked as he ran to help professor Oak. The professor got up as if nothing had happened. "Who put this tree here?" the professor said as he dusted himself off. "It's actually a Sudowoodo," Kai said as it began to move and run off. The professor and Kai looked on as the Sudowoodo tied to hide among other trees. "Did you want something," Kai said. Professor Oak tried to remember what he wanted to tell Kai but the crashing into Sudowoodo caused him to forget.

Kai invited professor Oak into his house to rest. When the professor saw a picture Kai's brother he remembered what he came for. "Your brother sent me an egg three months ago, it hatched today. I've discussed with him and his okay with me giving it to you as a starter," Oak said. These words brought back hope to Kai. His dream of being a pokemon champion like his brother was still alive. "Can I have now?" asked excited as ever. Oak explained that is was still at the lab. "If you going on your pokemon journey you'll need your bag," said Kai's mum as stood at the doorway holding his bag.
Kai and the professor took a walk back to the lab. When they reached the lab Kai couldn't wait, leaving the professor in his dust Kai ran to the room where his pokemon was. The ball unique, it wasn't the usual red and white. This ball was different it was silver and white. Professor Oak removed the pokeball out of the glass dome. "Why is the ball a different color?" Kai asked. Professor Oak thought for minute trying to remember where he got it. "This ball was forged from pure magma," Oak said which was pure lies as the truth was he forgot where he got it from.

Professor Oak and Kai left the lab and went out side it was about five in the afternoon. His mum, dad and most of his family were there to see him call his pokemon for the first time. Professor Oak handed him the pokeball as his family snapped pictures. "I choose you!" he called out as he released the ball from his hand. The ball split in two and a red bolt of energy came out. The energy began to form a round shape. The red faded away and pokemon was clearly visible now. "What is it?" Kai asked in confusion. The pokemon began exploring its new environment. "It's a Gastly," Professor Oak said. The Gastly saw Kai holding the pokemon and went over next to Kai. Kai gently petted the Gastly. "It really likes you," Oak said as Gastly licked Kai's face. As soon as Gastly's tongue touched Kai he collapsed. Professor Oak recalled Gastly and rushed Kai to his lab.

    CHAPTER 2
Kai's big day hadn't gone as plan, firstly not getting a starter then getting paralyzed by his starter was not the best way to start but hopefully the next day would be better.
The sun streaked into Kai's bedroom through the drapes. Today Kai was ready early. It was about six in the morning and he was deciding what outfit to use. Clothes were lying all over his room as he searched through his drawer. He found a pair of worn out black jeans, and since worn out was the latest fashion he put it on. He began searching for a T-shirt. He opened his closet and began flinging hangers looking for a shirt he liked. He pulled out a brand new shirt; it was a sort army pattern. As he looked out the window, he saw the trees rustling and thought it might be cold. He grabbed a denim jacket and stuffed it into his bag. Just as he was leaving the house, he put on a red cap. When looked into the mirror he realized that the cap was a bit too much.

When Kai left the house almost all of Pallet was there to send him off. Kai felt like a celebrity until he realized most of the people wanted to see the boy who paralyzed by his own pokemon. Kai walked to the edge of Pallet where professor Oak was waiting for him. "This is a pokedex, it records pokemon you've captured and seen, these are pokeballs you know what they're for.

Kai felt that he had been walking for hours until he looked at his watch, he had been walking for only ten minutes. The sun was torture the day before was nice and cool. It must be like 100 degrees Kai thought to himself. He had just reached the one-hour mark and decided to rest. He found a nice spot under a tree. As he started drinking water, he fell asleep.

Kai awoke after about twenty minutes and began searching for his water bottle. He looked all around the tree. He looked at the grassy area next to the tree and saw a Pidgey playing with his water bottle. The lid was open and the water had run out. "Nice Pidgey, give me back my bottle," Kai said as he stepped closer to the pokemon.

He was few steps from the pokemon when big Pidgeot swooped down from the tree to protect the Pidgey. Kai started taking a few steps back. The Pidgeot started making some high-pitched noises. As it did this Pidgeotto from other tree came together like a flock. Kai had one chance he was standing in some soft soil; he reached down and picked up a hand full. Pidgeot spread its wings preparing to attack. "Not today!" cried out Kai as he flung the mud into Pidgeot's face. Kai started running as fast as he could into the woods hoping for the trees to provide cover.

The bird pokemon were faster than Kai expected. Then it hit him he forgot his bag. He only had one chance to go back. In a feat of amazing agility he did a baseball slide so that the bird pokemon fly over him and he can run back to his bag. Kai ran back to the tree where his bag was. When he found his bag there was a problem. There was a Weedle on his bag. "Shoo, go away," Kai told the bug pokemon as he tried to get it of his bag. Realizing that the bird pokemon would soon catch up to him.

He picked up the bag with the Weedle on it. Kai stared run along the path, as the bird pokemon didn't allow him to go into the forest. Kai knew he had no chance to out run the bird pokemon sent out his Gastly. "Stop them Gastly," he called out as unleashed his pokemon. Gastly came out of the ball with a big smile on his face. Kai had stopped running.

On seeing the bird pokemon, Gastly began to float away as fast as a bullet. "Hey wait up," Kai called out as he tried to catch Gastly. It was soon clear to Kai that he was running into a trap. Most of the Pidgeotto began to pull out and fly above. Kai took his eyes of the path and when he looked front, he saw a tree. Gastly and Kai tried to stop as the Weedle tried to jump. Kai collided into Gastly and the three of them phased through the tree as the bird pokemon rammed into the tree.

Kai, Gastly and Weedle stopped to catch their breath as they thought that they were in no danger. Before they had a chance to get up, Pidgeot and the rest of the Pidgeotto surrounded them. "I must be the most unlucky person in the world," Kai said to himself as Pidgeot prepared to attack. Suddenly Weedle began to speak. Then Kai looked up into the tree and saw it was full of Beedrill. The Beedrill swarmed out of the tree to protect Weedle. The bug pokemon out numbered the bird pokemon, realizing this Pidgeot flew and the other birds did so. "Maybe my lucks finally changed," he mumbled to himself and Gastly. Then it hit him, Pidgeotto no longer surrounded him, Beedrill surrounded him.

Just as the Beedrill were about to attack, Weedle began communicating to them. Weedle was doing different gestures as he explained. Kai and Gastly looked puzzled but relaxed. The Beedrill went back to sleep in the tree. Kai let out a sigh of relief as he picked his back up and continued on his way to viridian.

After walking for a while, he realized that Weedle was following him so walked over to Weedle. "Hey little fellow, forget something in my bag," he joked as Weedle climbed onto his shoulder. "Do you want to travel with me as one of my pokemon?" he asked Weedle. Kai took a pokeball out of his pocket and tapped it on Weedle's head. In a red flash Weedle went into the pokeball. My first pokemon Kai screamed as he jumped up and down.
