I know this isn't the most powerful thing I've ever written, nor is it the most eloquent or best of my poems, but it holds a personal meaning for me as it's a memory of mine, when I was little, so please keep that in mind <3
I'm jolted awake without warning,
Wondering what's happening here?
Something feels wrong..it's..something,
Something that bites me deep, this fear.
I get out of bed, and walk to my window.
Look outside, see something so wrong.
I'm scared, but try not to let it show.
How long's this been going on? Not for long.
That can't be my father, it can't be!
That man on the porch with a gun,
That's a trapped man, trapped not free.
When this is all over..what's done will be done.
Red and blue lights cast on my wall,
Men shouting at him to calm down,
I hear a loud BANG, see the shadow of him fall,
Fall down, down, hitting the ground.
My father, he's dead, he took his own life,
Drunk and high as can be.
He threw it away, left me to try,
To try to live in a world that never sees.
Look for them, look, and find,
We all have these stories,
Trapped in our minds,
Of past pain and miseries.
This world needs healing,
It's dying slowly inside,
Lacking in care and feeling,
Always taught to hide...
