Does anyone know if anywhere in the world the movies are available in widescreen? I've found Pokemon 4Ever in widescreen from Canada a few years back, but would love to have the first film in widescreen.

As far as I know, on the DVDs, they've shown the last three shorts in widescreen. Yet, of the movies themselves, only the ninth one was widescreen. Which is most bothersome when you think about it (as the first, second, and eighth needed the effect, as well).

There are numerous scenes in the first one and third one especially that needed to be in widescreen.

When the scientist is talking to Mewtwo in the beginning and you see their reflections in tubes of water in the foreground, this effect would work very well in widescreen, but in 1.33:1 full screen it does not.

In part 3 when Molly is told her father is missing there is a long shot of her standing alone by the door. She is on the far right side of the frame with NOTHING in front of her, because the shot probably included the other 2 people on the left side.

I just found parts 2 and 3 are in widescreen in Europe, I'll probably buy those they aren't too expensive, but I really want part one in widescreen.

Well, the Aussie DVD of the 8th movie did present it in letterbox, I forgot. Oops. So, if you can get a region free player, there you go.

I cannot understand why these movies where realised in fullscreen.
You're not able to enjoy the full animation quality.

I was even so annoyed that I gave my DVD of Pokemon The Movie 2000 away and bought the german DVD which also has the english, french, italian and dutch dub and naturally widescreen.

    And something really curious:
The german and french european versions of "Pokemon-The first movie" on VHS videotape where widescreen but the DVD was fullscreen just like the US DVD.

And what about the japanese DVDs,they shure must be in widescreen,or not?

Well I did order Pokemon The Movie 2000 from the UK which is presented in widescreen. I do have a region free DVD player.

I found the original Japanese version of the first movie in widescreen and completely uncut, but it's expensive. I have to wait until I have enough money.

I'm going to do a project in which I take the video of the Japanese version (Which is in Widescreen) and take the Audio of the dub so then you'll have digital versions of the dub in Widescreen

Every Japanese movie has been presented in a cinematic aspect ratio - widescreen from start to present. Like any movie in the cinemas.

    Ah,good to know,maybe I will order them.
Because I also have a multizone DVD player and I'm also able to play every region.
