This is a special report on the new nintendo DS. This information came from the electronic gaming magazine.......after i post the info you guys can talk about other info about it too.......or your opinions.........so here it goes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even with Nintendo dropping hints the last few months about new hardware under development, its annnouncement of a new portable system, the Nintendo DS, due out worlwide later this year, came as quite a shock.
THe surprise had nothing to do with what games the DS would play, its price, or the systems design. In fact, Nintendo had virtually nothing to say on any of those points-details will be revealed at the E3 trade show in may. No, the surprise was over the announcement of the system's single most unusal-and puzzling feature: The Nintendo DS will include not one, but two screens!!!!
It's still unclear how the dual dscreens, arranged one on top of the other, will be put to use in games. Nintendo gave only one example- a soccer game could use one display for a wide-angle shot and the other for a close-up view of the action--but reps have stated that this is only a single, obvious use of the technology. Different methods are promised to be revealed later.
The DS will be powered b y two processors~~ one found in the current game boy advance and another more powerful chip that drives tapwave's new zodiac pda/handheld game system. That doesn't necessarily mean Nintendo's portable will perform like either of those systems, though. How fast the DS' versions of these processors will be is still unknown. And all that's known about the system's controls is that "you will not have to look down at your hands to use it (uh did we have to look at our hands to use the other game boy lol)
Nintendo is stressing that this new portable will not compete with its own gba handheld, stating that work continues on developing the next true game boy. But the company also would not confirm or deny that the DS would be able to play existing GBA and othe rolder game boy carts. It's worth noting that the late 2004 release date would pit Nintendo's new system up against Sony's PlayStation Portable(PSP), also due out worldwide this fall.
NO DS games have been announced, but big japanese publishers like namco, sega, and konami(castlevania....o yea) have pledged to develop titles. Other developers, including sports game juggernaut Electronic ARts, say they are currently evaluating the system and will decide whether or not to support it soon.
I think that It could also be used to have the game on one screen and a mini map on the other(metroid). And with pokemon pinball, they could have top and bottom of the pinball on the screens. And with mario and luigi super star saga.......u might be able to multi-task! But anyway make your opinions and you may state other facts about it in this thread and stuff.
