...Indigo League, Orange Islands, Johto League etc were the best among the other series. Advance and Diamond and Pearl don`t even compare to this series. The T.V shows were not the same after Master Quest. I actually watched most if not all of the Original series, half of Advance Series but stoped watching for awhile. i tuned in for the new series from time to time and was rather disappointed. The voices were dreadful in my opinion, animation was like "what the heck" and shows were boring, not interesting. After watching like a minute in the new shows, i had the urge to change the channel right away. looks like the shows are coming downhill, others may disagree, but the shows back then really brings back memories.

I fell in love with the johto theme song. Matter of fact i feel like watching some after I watch this EP of Pokemon Sunday

how can you really compare the seasons with one another, they haven't changed the formula for making episodes so they're, if anything, similar and not worse than another

Kanto and Orange Islands were good.
Jothto, not so much. It had some good fillers/humors in it, but many disagree with it being one of the best. However, I did like the ending to it with the league and Ash battling against a fourth generation Pokemon. Switching up characters every now and than is a good thing, Advanced was cool. May was an intresting character and added a new side quest that has girls intrested in the show these days. D/P its ok, but I sure as heck wish they'd get rid of Brock.

The show has ALWAYS been the same for me. The only possible way for me to start a Saturday morning. Original = Jotho = Advanced = DP

It's just that nostalgia affects 9 out of every 10 people. Apparently I am part of the 1 out of 10. I never liked my childhood, you can say. :(

Eh, it's really hard to judge the seasons based on what happens, since the exact same thing essentially happens every time. That being said, I rank the seasons based on the characters in them. I liked Misty, Brock and May, but I didn't like Max, and I absolutely LOATHE Dawn. So, Original was great, Johto wasn't half-bad, but I can't stand to watch D/P.

Oh no... not another "i miss the old days, i want misty back thread!"

Verkinova please close this or somthing :|

Everyone has different likes and dislikes. The humor and personalities of characters have drastically changed, as well as plot and what goes on. People can't help but have difference of interests. Some people prefer the new episodes, whereas others love the old episodes and characters more. I'm one of the people who prefers the old episodes. Yes, one of the reasons is because Misty was there. I liked the humor, sarcasm, hidden meanings, voice actors, comedy, and other things that were part of the old episodes. This season, everyone has become more kind with each other, and not everyone likes that. Sure, we like kindness in the real world, but with anime, it's different. You'd think people who argue so much would just stop traveling together, but they don't. I'm also a Pokeshipper, so that's why I prefer the old series. I like the episode of "Ghost of Maiden's Peak" and other episodes that hint towards the ship. I like the episode with Sabrina and the ghosts. I liked when the show was focused more on Ash, instead of distributed amongst trainers that don't exactly have pokemon that I care for. That's just me. I respectfully agree with the thread maker's post.

i disagree, most of the recurring characters are essentially the same, Ash still wants to be a pokemon master, brock still goes crazy for pretty girls, team rocket is still team rocket. other than gary being less arrogant and the different characters, the new episodes are just copies of the old ones.

if anything people are just getting bored of watching the same thing of something that they love

Exactly. When Pokémon first aired, the anime wasn't as predictable as it has become today. No one knew what to expect all the time, and everyone watched it because it was delivering something new every week. However, as seasons progressed fans began to realize it was just a reboot every new region Ash and Pikachu traveled through. Heck, its become predictable enough to know that every first Gym Battle Ash has, he loses to. :\

Point being, the writers just need to change the show up some, so viewers wouldn't always predict everything that is to come. They need to dig back into some of their original roots that made the show so popular from the start. Although, with the next generation to come, I just have a feeling they might.

Giving my opinion though, I view the show for the same reasons I watched the show when it first came out. Pretty much because I was interested in it then, and still am today. Even if I can predict what may happen next, I still watch it, maybe hoping for things to take a turn in change. I'm not complaining about the newer series as I enjoy them, I enjoy the introduction of Pokémon Contests, and everything after. The changes in character does well, at least they still keep center focus on Ash and Pikachu and not change it to someone entirely new. Yes, they could make things differently, but hey, as long as it's still running as a popular TV Show, then I'm still there to watch it.

i agree as well. it gets repetitive to the point of not being interested anymore. when they showed the first season, it was fresh, something new. but after new season after new season, backed up with horrible voice acting and animation, the magic just wore off.

The short of it (and broad generalization) would simply be that people will always prefer their generation of Pokémon over any new ones, simply because the novelty will inevitably wear off.

The formula will always stay the same because the target demographic will always stay the same, even though the Pokémon franchise has accumulated a much larger and more varied fanbase throughout the years.

Essentially, the anime and all other sortsa crap is what gets new fans, the games and manga is what keeps them, while movies play both roles. The games constantly add new features in order to keep our interest, while staying true to the overall basic mechanics that made it so damn popular in the first place.

All in all, Pokémon is solidly placed among the other game franchise juggernauts, such as Mario, Final Fantasy, and Zelda. Unlike them, however- it has a tv show to nab the youngsters, which may be seen as either as clever marketing or a crutch.

Omg, I just watched a few classic episodes on Pokemon dot com and I dont think anything now or later can compare to the original series. The humor was always slightly more mature than it should have been, like Misty being extremely rude to Psyduck and on the the episode with Duplica and Ditto when they were extremely rude when that Ditto would transform! Haha, I was out of my chair the entire time. I had actually watched the episode that ur avatar is from just a minute ago PuNkSter

The Original Series and mostly Indigo League and the Orange Islands was really interesting to me (it doesn't mean i don't like the other series of course). But as some people say they didn't change the formula for the anime series. So if they think to make another fifth generation like the previous ones that would make the anime like never ending...They can keep the basic formula for the anime but I think they don't need to make another region and more pokemon. That would really made things going worse (dunno but maybe yeah). I think it would be better if they bring back some old characters into it and make the action going on a place that was never showed in anime before, but not a whole region with new pokemon : / They can't change the action of the episodes that would make the whole anime different, but at least they can bring a good end to it as bringing some old things with new face and they can make more sense as leaving some mysteries from the first series never revealed. Like "Where did go Butterfree?" - the first pokemon catched by Ash, or "What happened to Pidgeot?", when Ash left it. And also pokemon like Charizard and all those that are with proffessor Oak and other pokemon Ash don't use now but catched. And also pokemon that Brock cathed and left, and lot of things like that.

I'm watching the DP series right now on YouTube, because I am a nerd and missed a few episodes can ignore all the corny kid stuff and enjoy the show for what it is: A world where kids battle innocent creatures to unconciousness, yet everbody is still happy and joyous. Awesome. :3

And yes, I agree the original series was much more funny and original, but it had barely no plot and Ash barely trained. While in Hoenn and Sinnoh the series actually started to go somewhere.

Most people will always prefer the first season because everything is new etc. though I do think the hoenn saga was really good and also the sinnoh saga is shaping up to be my favorite ever... (my opinion only)

The originals to the end of the Advance series were the best. Mostly because of the openings and movies.

Dont get me wrong I love the original series, and I also love the Advance generation. My head isnt full of nostalgic air like others are....

A few months ago I started watching the originals again as I hadn't seen them in years and I was also playing through Yellow at the time. I loved them when I was s kid and I still have a soft spot for them. Episodes where they catch new Pokemon and get into some cool battles are the ones I enjoy the most. However, there was a point where I got sick of the repetitive nature. To be honest, the thing that annoyed me was Team Rocket. Now, they start off ok but when they appear in every episode and do the same thing over and over again it really gets on my nerves.

I watched the first Diamond/Pearl episode the other day too. I thought it was actually pretty good and liked the way the episode went until the end. Team Rocket showed up again for no worthwhile reason and it ruined the full episode.

Last Summer Break, I had a stack of Pokemon tapes from the Original Series waiting to be watched. At that time, I was bored had nothing to do. I'd watch a tape a day(each tape had three episodes) and it really got me back into liking Pokemon so that's why I joined PC. On top of that I was laughing while watching and who could not forget about the Pokerap, which got me rappin after the end of each episode.
