(Warning: This is all my opinion and my theory/prediction of the future of pokemon.)

Other then the remakes, I think the pokemon series is coming to an end. After HG/SS, they won't make any games until a new portable console. Then comes the R/S/E remakes. Honestly, this idea came from a pokemon spoof on newgrounds ($00P4H N1N73ND0). But really, you gotta admit, they've made every type of pokemon. They've made a god pokemon, a mother nature pokemon, a controller of the sky, a controller of time, a controller of space.... even a pokemon that controls the shadows (giratina, correct me if I'm wrong) and so many more. I mean, what will they do next? The fifth generation may be very far away, but... I can't think of any type of pokemon they haven't gone for yet. I don't know, I just wanted to see other people's opinions on this, and if they agree with me or have ever thought about this..

I have never thought of this, but I don't think it will, this is pokemon we are talking abou,t a series that is over a decade old and still only have near 500 pokemon, they can most likely make more, The pokemon series won't end for a while in my opinon.

But what kind of pokemon will they make? I can't think of anything they haven't made. all I can think of legendary pre evolutions/evolutions

They'll probably keep doing remakes and possibly making you able to travel between nations and such. I thought the same thing when watching NiN10DOH, but hey, Nintendo's surprised us before.

Yeah, the only game I can think of other then remakes would be orange islands, traveling between regions, or (possibly when they finish the anime - if that ever happens) a game where you travel as ash, and the whole game is based on the anime

i think that just because they have made a god pokemon doesn't mean that they won't have any new ideas they will just not have as much emagination behind them (although a god pokemon isn't really that emaganativ)

    sorry 4 bad spelling XD

there are things they could do, like plenty more extinct pokemon or they could go to the origin of pokemon, space! It has been alluded to many times, the latest of course being the Hoenn space center. This is unlikely though because it would change a lot and also pokemon got a lot dumber than when it used to talk about these things. Also I suppose they could add on a new element or two and then they would have a ton of variations to make, which would be good because it would create much more diversity. I mean think about it, how many of us like (when I say like I mean would have in your personal party or even a second or tertiary party) say 200 pokemon? I probably only like around 60 or 70 and only a handful of those will actually see party time because I never get around to training the other parties I plan.

Just imagine a region with pokemon that actually come from space from an super intelligent alien pokemon that comes to earth to save the last of its kind, or a professor from the future who became an astronaught. If you tweak that plot enough you could even make him give you the pokemon after he crash lands and then he hands you a pokedex so you can document the pokemon for him, or even a... well I'm getting off topic so I guess I'll end it here

There are a lot of animals that haven't been Poké-fied yet. Zebras, dolphins, so many kinds of bugs, etc. (And don't anybody say Gorebyss is a dolphin, that's an eel.)

There's still a lot of type combos to make (people have been begging for Fire/Dragon for years, and I'd love Electric/Ground), and still no Poison, Fighting, or Bug legendaries (discounting plated Arceus).

The guy in charge of the patent office in the 19th century somewhere said they should close it because he believed everything had been invented already. Look how wrong he was.

well, it has already been annouced that they are working on a new generation. But i think after these Gen 5 games, and Hoenn remakes, and the millions of spin-offs, itll be over.

Tho, we wont be waiting soon. I tihnk the Gen 5 games will be DSi exclusive. meaning you have to use the camera and stuff for it. I know DS and DSi are really not that different, but were GB and GBC any different. no. the colour just changed. so i tihnk Gen 5 will come soon, but it will be the last. I dont see the DS going anywhere, so i think we wont have towait too long for the new gen

With those said, I think that it will come to a point that they will no longer make no new pokemon, but new adventures/leagues/story in new or "familiar" regions with the same pokemon.

Hello? They're going to milk the franchise for eternity, not that I'm complaining about that. But seriously, Most of Nintendo's all time best selling handheld games have been Pokemon, so why on EARTH would they stop? Also, I do not think there are going to be any RSE remakes.

As for coming out with new Pokemon, I never really honestly liked legendarys anyway, there still are tons of pokemon which can have third stage evolutions added; Jynx, Swellow, Mightyena, and much, much more. I frequent the Bungie.net forums for Halo 3, and there was a debate going on for months about whether or not there will be a Halo 4, and, whaddaya know, Halo: Reach is announced at E3 2009.

Well I'd like to see them try to make one more new batch of pokemon. If they come out as bad as generation IV or worse then they should just not make anymore and instead make new games using the same pokemon that we already have. As Yaziyo kinda beat me in saying :)

There's considered to be over two million species of creatures. They have a lot of things they can milk and turn into pokemon...

    yaziyo, LOL. i 2nd that!

but it seems like everyone here is limiting pokemon to JUST animals/lifeforms.
but there are many NON-lifeform pokemon.
such as: porygon, rotom, driftloom, steal types, the many rock types, ghost types, plant types(thought it is technically life) etc.
also so pokemon are more like made up animals like what the hell is alakzam?lol
and smeargle, or chansy, or mr. mime, lucario, or machamp, the list goes on...
there is SO much pokemon can do!
theres many birds, bugs, fishes, fossiles, aliens, robots, etc.
    Pokemon is FOREVER period!
just like mario is, just like nintendo is..
less and less people play pokemon with each gen that comes out because they "outgrew it" or their turned off by the idea of more pokemon.
but with each generation more KIDS play, and those kids turn in to die-hard fans such as us(well me anyways)

it also brings much more diversity to the game and more challenges.
Pokemon isnt dead, it's just hittin puberty!:)

    thanks for reading this:S
