The positive TPCI dubbing thread

While we all gripe from time to time about TPCI's dubbing approach, there are some positive side effects. For example, I'm personally pleased to see returning old hands, like Marc Thompson, Rachael Lillis, Dan Green and Lisa Ortiz. Not to mention, the sensible casting of 4Kids voice actors reprising their past roles, vis-a-vis, Ted Lewis with Giovanni.

This thread is to compensate for my previous commentary, where I was and have been quite critical of TPCI's dubbing practices. Pick any direction you want, any likable aspect of TPCI dubbing, and take it from there. I'll start with a new example, such as voice actors I'd never expect to do anime, like Paul's. It is a refreshing change of pace, and an essential one. I'm particularly glad they casted him, and I hope he remains with the franchise in B/W.

I may do a 4Kids version, eventually, but let's see how this one goes. Enjoy.

They don't use Lisa Ortiz for every other filler girl so that's an upside. They also don't do pointless paint edits (Often) and keep their movies in their original aspect ration. All good things. Other than that, they are very similar to 4Kids really.

I forgot about those paint edits, so that is nice. Other than Team Rocket and the music, it isn't that bad, at all.

Oh, I finally accepted it, but Natochenny is now a worthy successor to Ash. I liked Taylor, but Natochenny tries to make Ash sound properly like a boy. Good choice, in the end.

Natochenney was clearly better than Talyor half way through the Kanto Battle Frontier. She only went up from there but her Staraptor voice still sucks hard.

Yes, but Staraptor will be a moot point in a few more episodes, so I wouldn't worry.

Although, it wasn't until D/P, that I appreciated Natochenny's nuance with the character. How about that?

But it's such a cool Pokémon; it could never be moot.

I will accept your answer. She isn't the best right now but she's certainly passable.

    Good enough.

One positive thing I liked was TPCI acknowledging the Japanese producers in the "We Will Be Heroes" OP. (Do they still do that?) I normally don't like when such credits obscure the video, but it's credit that is long overdue. It is important to know who animated what, who colored what and etc.

Used to be a positive point that they would keep around 10 or so pieces of Japanese BGM. But, er, now they've gone down to a 4Kids style 2 or 3 o_O

A past positive is still a positive. But, yeah, I've noticed the music issue, too.

Or is it a trade-off for the lack of paint edits, for the most part? Hmm....

Lol'd at all the positives in this thread.

I guess I liked Dawn's voice actor - it was a good choice. I think they used the same voice actor that 4kids used for Gary too, under a different name.
