This is a thread dedicated to the letter "Q"!

Use this thread for any discussion related to (one of) the most under-used English letter, "Q"!

(Q)

This is the definition from the Oxford Dictionary for the letter "Q":

Q /kju:/
- noun (also q) [C, U] (pl. Q's, q's /kju:z/) The 17th letter of the English alphabet: "Queen" begins with (a) "Q".
- abbr. question

As we can see, unlike most other letters in the alphabet, Q has no real meaning of its own, except as an abbreviation of the word "question". Also, Q is one of the least used letters in the alphabet, because there are not many words begin with a Q.
However, Q is my favorite letter in the alphabet, because:
1. Q is round, but unlike O, it's not perfectly round, thus it indicates that nothing is perfect.
2. In (almost) every English word, Q used followed by the letter U, making them inseparable, just like how close friends and families should be.
3. When Q is turned upside down, it looks like a bomb.
4. Q is Q.

So, let's start talking about Q! Everything to do with the letter "Q" is welcome here, including strange or funny usages of Q, pictures of and/or related to Q, new words or abbreviations beginning with Q, etc, etc...

Don't know why it's so~~ under-used in English... ><
Maybe all cool-looking letters aren't used much in English... like X and Z, but I don't like them - they're just too simple and straight, lol. But Q is SPECIAL, because Q is the only letter that goes over the bottom line when you type it in capital (in most fonts like Ariel and TNR).

1 of my mates use Q as a wildcard letter, lol, because it's so underused...
I.e. He uses Q to mask those "sensitive" letters in abbreviations, like he writes OMFG as OMQG, and WTF as WTQ etc. and he writes the F word as FuQ... at the beginning we were like WTF r u talking about, but now we're all used to it.
Q is a good sensor bypasser, lol!

Anyway what gets me is where OMGWTFBBQ came from... lol.

we all started using that on MSN chat, just because he started it and always uses it... we had no idea what WTQ is supposed to mean, but we just assumed it meant WTF... lol, like OMQG, but thats obvious.

btw, Q is worth 10 points in scrabble, same as Z, but it has an advantage over Z because Q is always used with U (some extra points) and is never used double, but Z is sometimes used in doubles as in BUZZ.

Well we Chinese people use '3Q' as an online term for 'thank-you' .. hahaha

Yea, that explains it, the chinese (and other asian) ppl cant seem to distinguish between s and th, and sometimes, l and r...

How do you write your Q's?

I usually make either a O with a line through it(

), or a square with a line through the bottom(

)

LOL i normally write it like how you write a 2 - draw a circle from the back and draw a curvy line from where the circle starts and ends.

See the Q's in my sig? That's what my Q's are like, lol.
