Chapter 1: The Coming of Darkness
There was an ill wind in the air as it blew past the otherwise peaceful looking forest. The skies were a dark bruised color as the black clouds covered the area in shroud. Families of Pokemon hide off in their own nooks and crannies, shielding their children from the inevitable storm that would likely come.
It was strange that the storms would come when only a single figure showed his face.
His heavy boots crushed the leaves and the twigs under his step, loud cracking sounds echoing around the forest, despite the fact the howling winds blew hard.
The man's appearance was a strange one. He was dressed in a heavy looking trench coat, dark black that almost touched the ground. No hair could be seen, though that could have been the cause of the fedora atop his head. His eyes were covered by a pair of very reflective red shaded sunglasses. His skin was pale, his face clean shaven, with the occasional nick and scratch around the otherwise ivory pale skin. Around his belt, holding up his dress pants was a belt full of Pokeballs. Strange designs for such simple machines though. The entire ball seemed to be a heavy blood red and the opening mechanism was black. Though on each ball was a strange looking symbol, which looked of a Circle crossed over a triangle and an X.
He stopped in the middle of the road as if something was wrong. Something WAS wrong, it turned out. He turned to the direction of a snapping sound that normal people would never have detected. A smirk crossed his face.
"There you are."
He immediately dropped to his knees as a huge figure leapt out of the shrubbery, barely missing the man and landing on the opposite side of the path. It looked canine in design, with brown fur covering the majority of its body, while light brown fur covered it's chest and underbelly. On its back were several gray spikes, with a tail with the consistency of smoke. His face was the most threatening though. It looked as though the creature wore a mask, bright yellow, fire red and ashen gray over two very determined and fierce eyes. It growled, baring it's teeth and knelt, ready to pounce.
"You haven't a clue how long I've been looking for you," Said the man, his voice strangely calm and concealed fasion, as if he weren't staring down a Legendary Pokemon. "Entei, the Guardian of the Brass Tower…"
Entei let loose a deafening roar, which seemed to almost vibrate the air around him. If it was meant to frighten the man, it failed horribly. Instead, the man stood there, not shaken a bit.
"I'm sure you know of my deeds," He said, "and you know I haven't any inclination to stop. In fact, you're going to be part of it."
He grabbed two Pokeballs from his belt and threw them up into the air, silent the whole time. The balls burst open, releasing a black, dark energy from within them, which formed into two creatures, whose prescence were enough to frighten the Guardian of Brass Tower.
One was a tiger like creature with yellow fur with black stripes. It's tail was zig-zagged like that of a blue, spurred lightning bolt, a purple plume like cape that stretched over it's back. Its mask was also strange looking, a dark metallic shade which was over a bright blue spurred mask. Two large tusks stuck out of it's mouth.
The other creature was slick and looked similar to a cheetah, blue fur with purple rhombus' scattered about it's body. Two white streamers that stretched out to either side of it's body, a long purple plume like cape like it's partner, and a large rhombus sticking out from the top of it's head.
Both of these Pokemon stared at Entei, a very dark look overcoming their eyes. Both gave Entei a low, feral growl…
"Suicune…Raikou…" The man said, slipping both hands into his pockets, holding the Pokeballs that contained the other two guardians. A sick grin crossed his lips.
"Sic 'em."
Raikou let loose a roar of his own and howled to the clouds. Immediately, a bolt of lightning struck from the heavens in front of Entei, enough to send him jumping back in surprise. The fire legendary growled again and opened his mouth, where a bright red fireball began to build. Whipping his head forward, he released a flame thrower at the Electric Pokemon.
Suicune jumped in front of the attack and opened her mouth as well, releasing a torrent of water, a Hydro Pump to counter the quickly approaching stream of fire. It struck the attack and not only cut through it like a knife through warm butter but struck Entei, who roared as he was blown back from the force, slamming into a tree and knocking it down.
Entei jumped to his feet, a newly awaken look in his eye. Fire suddenly erupted around his body in a Flare Blitz. He then rushed toward the two surprised Pokemon. Suicune managed to leapt out of the way, but Raikou took the blow hard, yelping as it was flung across the forest, a good portion out of the way.
As he tried to shake off the resulting recoil from the attack, he managed to jump out of the way from a suddenly blast of ice cold air, the place he was just standing in freezing over a thick layer of ice. The Dog like Pokemon inhaled again and turned to face Suicune, releasing another Flame thrower in her direction. Once more, the cheetah like creature leapt from the attack, barely missing the attack as a whole. From the mis-fires, the forest began had caught fire.
Suicune growled and charged at Entei, opening her mouth and releasing another torrent of water. Entei leapt out of the way and would have fired his Flame thrower right then and there, had Suicune suddenly split off into eight exact copies surrounding the Legendary Dog. Entei looked amongst them all, backing away slowly. All eight copies opened their mouths and began to glow, in preparation for one of the most deadly of attacks, a Hyper Beam.
Entei's eyes widened a little and looked amongst them all. He closed his eyes and began to concentrate. His body suddenly began to glow red, and his eyes turned fire red. Letting out another roar, he exploded.
The explosion caused all eight of the copies of Suicune to be hit, one of them flying off to the side and into a tree. Entei stood in a crater from his Devastate attack, wobbly from exerting so much energy. He lifted himself out of the crater and approached Suicune, pressed a paw down on her chest. Both looked into the others eyes, and knew the end was close for one…
When suddenly a bolt of thunder struck from the heavens and struck Entei in the back. The Legendaries eyes widened widened as he released an agonized roar, before falling on his side. Raikou, standing behind him, panted a little and chuckled a little. Suicune lifted herself up as well, both of them staring down at their barely moving former comrade.
"That's enough you two." The man said as he walked up to the two pokemon, who parted to let him through. The man stared down at him, gesturing with his right hand. A Pokeball of the same kind around his belt appeared. "You're quite an important part of my group, my good friend," he spoke softly to Entei, who opened his eyes weakly staring up at the three barely recognizable figures above it. "For with you, I'll become a little bit closer to becoming a god…"
The Pokeball struck him in the stomach, converting him into energy and pulling him into the ball. The man caught it in mid air as the ball shook once, twice, thrice before clicking shut, the signal of a successful capture.
The man stared at his new prize and chuckled, which turned into a low laugh, before turning into an ear scratching cackle…
A sense of dread came over the entire forest that day…
