This is set five years after The Start Of Spencer's Journey, my pilot short story. This will be my first proper pokemon fan fiction. Each of the pokemon now have names while Geodude and Charmander are both fully evolved and there are also some new pokemon in Spencer's team. For those who haven't read The Start of Spencer's Journey, Spencer is a trainer and breeder who can talk to pokemon.

    Chapter 1
Blaze the Wartortle and Sunny the Raichu were taking a walk outside their trainer Spencer's secret base what he had set up a few miles west of Shinford City in a cave near the woods.

As they were walking, Sunny said to Blaze, "It sure is a lovely day today Blaze. I hope it stays like this."

"Yeah. Those berries Spencer asked us to find should be quite ripe for this time of year. We should come back with plenty so we should get plenty of PokeBLOCK for the next couple of days," Blaze replied.

Spencer had sent Sunny and Blaze to gather a collection of five different berries so he could mix them to make some PokeBLOCK for his pokemon. While they were collecting the berries, he was in his secret base having a one-to-one training session with his Machoke, known as Corey. A lot of his training involved him sparring or wrestling with his pokemon and this was one of those sessions. Although it looks dangerous, their training is quite harmless. Spencer quite enjoyed this form of training as do his pokemon. As they stood facing each other, Spencer spoke to Corey.

"Okay Corey, imagine I am an enemy. I am about to try and catch you. Your instinct is to defend yourself. Now lets see how you defend yourself," Spencer said before moving towards Corey. After a short grappling match, Corey now had Spencer in a headlock, while twisting his right arm back with his other hand.

"Not bad, your self-defence training is coming along perfectly," Spencer said as Corey pulled him down to the floor still holding him in a headlock.

"Try getting out of that," Corey said as Spencer was now in a full headlock pin with his arm twisted right back in a submission hold.

"Okay, you got me," Spencer said admitting defeat. He knew he wasn't going to break out of Corey's hold. After ten seconds, Corey released Spencer and they both sat down and rested.

"Your strength is improving rapidly. Now if some bad guy such as a Team Rocket agent tries to take you, you can restrain him just like you did with me," Spencer said. "Of course, you already know that," he laughed.

Meanwhile Blaze and Sunny had finished gathering their berry collection and was on their way back.

"These should be good enough. There is enough berries here to last us all for at least three more days," Blaze said.

"Yeah. Spencer will be able to make tons of PokeBLOCK with these," Sunny replied.

They arrived back in the secret base where Spencer was sitting with Corey.

"We've brought some berries back," Blaze said as he and Sunny put down their berry collection in front of Spencer.

"Thanks a lot," Spencer said as he put all the berries in a basket and put it in front of the bed. "I'll mix these up a bit later. These will be perfect so plenty of PokeBLOCK for all. You did a great job Blaze, Sunny."

Later, Spencer mixed all the berries and made many groups of different coloured PokeBLOCK for each of his pokemon. There was red and green pokeblock for Blaze, green and yellow pokeblock for Corey, green pokeblock for Sunny, red and yellow pokeblock for Reggie the Golem, red pokeblock for Justin the Charizard and red and yellow pokeblock for Harvey the Scizor.

Later that night, Spencer lay in bed wondering what to do the next day. After a long think, he decided he should take a visit to Shinford City. He hadn't made any plans for tomorrow so he decided to take a visit to the museum and Pokemon Temple. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.

    Chapter 2
The next morning, Spencer and his pokemon had some breakfast. Afterwards he left his secret base and locked it. His base had double-locks and was hidden deep in a cave so he was satisfied that no-one would find it. Once he left the cave, he called out Justin, his Charizard.

"Justin, please will you give me a ride to Shinford City? Its not too far from here. Its just east of here past the woods," Spencer said. Justin nodded and Spencer got onto his back. Justin then flew up in the air and then flew eastwards towards Shinford City. After a ten minute flight, Justin descended down just at the edge of Shinford City and Spencer got off Justin's back.

"Thank you Justin. You should rest now," Spencer said and recalled Justin back into its pokeball. He then walked into the city. He usually makes regular visits to Shinford City to get shopping for himself and his pokemon as its the nearest place to his secret base. He also visits the temple quite often as well. Today he wanted to pay a visit to the museum. But first he was going to get his regular shopping. He bought some food as well as some pokemon medicine from the shopping centre then headed over to the museum when he had finished. He walked over to the main desk where a lady was sitting behind.

"One child's ticket please," Spencer said.

"That will be 50 Poke please," the lady said and Spencer handed over the money before handing a ticket over to Spencer. "Enjoy your visit," She said.

"Thank you, I will," Spencer said as he then walked into the main part of the museum. In the first room, there was some fossils of supposedly extinct pokemon.

"These fossils look quite interesting," Spencer said admiring the fossils in the room. He then noticed a sign next to one of them implying that Aerodactyl is extinct. Spencer almost guffawed at it.

"Extinct? These scientists actually think that Aerodactyl is extinct. They obviously don't go out very much. Aerodactyl is very much alive and so are Omanyte and Kabuto," Spencer said to himself. "Even the Pokedex is wrong," He added. "Well, anyway time to move on."

After looking at some more fossils, he goes into the next room. There were statues of ancient and rare pokemon.

"That's a nice Relicanth," he said looking at one statue. "I've not seen a Relicanth before, not a real one anyway." He continued around the room and saw statues of Armaldo, Rampardos and other pokemon. He turned around and saw someone he thought he recognised.

"Is that....?" Spencer said. He walked over to the person.

"Excuse me sir," Spencer said. The person turned around and Spencer recognised him.

    "Marty, it's you," Spencer said.

Marty was the leader of the project what gave Spencer's father and Spencer the ability to talk to pokemon in the first place. He lives in Alto Mare and adopted a Latios called Benny, who Spencer was already familiar with as he had visited Alto Mare four times in total, twice since starting his journey.

"Well what a surprise to see you Spencer," Marty said. "It's been a while, hasn't it?"

"It sure has, three whole years," Spencer said. "What brings you here?
"I just thought I'd pay a visit here to have a look around," Marty said. "And you?"

"I've just been on my weekly shop. I usually come here to do my shopping as I now reside just outside of town. I'd thought I'd have a look round here before going to Pokemon Temple,"

    "How's your dad?" Marty asked.

"My dad is fine, just fine," Spencer said. "How's Benny?"

"He's good," Marty said. "I'll tell him you're thinking of him. He'd love to see you again after all this time,"

"Yeah I'd love to see him too. How's Lorenzo?" Spencer asked.

"He's doing fine and so are Lucas and Janet. They seem to be adjusting without their father. Lucas still doesn't trust humans much but Janet seems to have took a liking to Bianca," Marty said.

"That's nice," Spencer said. "Are you staying? Maybe you can come with me and have a look arounf the museum."

"Actually I'm just about to leave. I'll be over at the cafe near the pokemon centre. So I'll be staying in town for a few more hours before heading back to Alto Mare," Marty said. "It's been nice seeing you. Hope to see you again sometime. I'll contact you on your PokeGEAR when I get back home,"

"That would be good," Spencer said. "See you again sometime, bye for now."

Marty then left the museum while Spencer continued looking round. After having a look around the museum's many different rooms, he left.

"Well I should have a quick rest for now then I'll head over to the temple," Spencer said to himself before going to the pokemon center for some hot chocolate and a rest. Later on, he would visit the temple. What secrets are hiding in the temple? Find out in Chapter 3 and beyond.

    Chapter 3
Spencer walked towards Pokemon Temple, which was located on the eastern edge of Shinford City. Outside the temple was a graveyard for pokemon, which expanded all around the outside of the temple. Spencer walked through the large oval door at the front of the temple. Inside was a large, dark corridor with doors on either side. Having been here many times before, Spencer knew which room was which. He walked towards the main worship hall at the end of the corridor. The room was quite big with a very high ceiling and on the other end was an altar containing a large statue of Arceus. Spencer first learnt about Arceus during his early years at Glenforda Academy and had believed all the legends he was taught. He believed that Arceus had created all humanity and pokemon alike. He walked over to the kneeling mat in front of the statue and knelt down in a praying position. Spencer came to Pokemon Temple as often as he can so he can pray to Arceus, the creator. Spencer believed Arceus was a god and prayed to him nearly every night even at his home. Spencer called out all his pokemon and let them pray with him. After about ten minutes, he called back his pokemon and proceeded to leave the temple. As he was about to leave, he heard some suspicious voices near the entrance. It wasn't until he got a bit closer that he recognised who the people were and quickly hid in one of the other rooms. Three Team Rocket grunts and two admins walked right through the temple's main entrance just as Spencer hid.

"Team Rocket," Spencer muttered to himself. "What the hell are they doing here of all places?" Behind one of the side-rooms, he listened to Team Rocket's plan.

"So this is the famous Pokemon Temple," Admin Vernon said. "Did you bring the master key for the portal?" he said to one of the grunts.

"I have everything you told me to bring," the grunt known as Leon said.

"Good. Then we can get to work right away. All we have to do is insert the key into the back of the Arceus statue and insert the right codes," Vernon said. "The chamber to the hidden pokemon world should be underneath this statue,"

"You what?" Spencer said to himself. "Another pokemon world?"

As Team Rocket walked past, Spencer followed them slowly and quietly so they wouldn't notice he was eavesdropping. Once they had entered the main worship hall, Spencer hid behind the door and listened in on Team Rocket.

Leon handed Vernon the master key who entered it into a keyhole located at the back of the Arceus statue.

"How on earth did they get a key? And what is this hidden chamber they are talking about?" Spencer said to himself. "They must have stolen it," He sent out Blaze and Sunny and he went down to their level and spoke quietly as the two pokemon listened carefully.

"I'm going back in that room. I need you to find the caretaker. I have a bad feeling about this. Those bad guys must have stolen that key from that caretaker so I'm guessing he's being held captive somewhere. Be careful. If I get captured, then don't worry. When its safe, then you can come and save me and help me stop Team Rocket. Now quickly go," Spencer whispered to them. Sunny and Blaze both nodded and quickly and quietly left in the other direction. As they left, Spencer slowly walked into the room to confront the bad guys.

"What's going on here?" Spencer said surprising Team Rocket.

All the surprised Team Rocket members turned around to look in Spencer's direction.

"Well it looks like we have a visitor," Admin Fraser said.

"I don't know what the hell you think you are up to. But I bet you're up to no good. What's all this stuff about a chamber and another pokemon world," Spencer said.

"So you've been eavesdropping, have you? Now that you know what we are up to, I'm afraid we can't let you leave," Fraser said. "Grab him."

Spencer reached for Reggie's pokeball but was quickly grabbed by two of the rocket grunts.

"Oh no you don't," Charlie the grunt said sticking a gun in Spencer's back. Spencer immediately withdrew his hand from Reggie's pokeball. "Good boy, now come with us quietly,"

Charlie and Mikey, the third grunt brought him over to the left-hand side of the hall where they tied him up and gagged him.

"Now you stay there and keep quiet. We have work to do," Charlie said as both grunts walked back over to where the other agents were. Spencer was now angry. He tried struggling but it was no use. He was satisfied that Sunny and Blaze would be back soon.

Meanwhile, Sunny and Blaze found the caretaker in a side-room with a Dialga statue. He was lying on the floor bound and gagged with two rocket grunts watching him. Upon seeing the two pokemon, they tried to grab them but was knocked out by Sunny's thunderbolt. The pokemon then released the caretaker who thanked them.

"Thank you so much for rescuing me," the caretaker said. "We have to stop Team Rocket. They stole my key and are going to use it for bad stuff." Both Sunny and Blaze knew he wouldn't be able to understand them so they pointed for him to follow them. The caretaker tied up the two team rocket agents using the same rope used to bind him and he and the two pokemon went into the main worship hall. To their horror, the chamber had already been opened. Sunny and Blaze ran over to where Spencer was and untied him.

"Thanks guys, I'd knew you'd come back for me," Spencer said thankfully. He then looked at the caretaker. "Are you okay mister?"

"I'm fine thank you. I take it these two belong to you," the caretaker said.

"Yes they do. Anyway we don't have much time. They are trying to open some kind of portal to another pokemon world," Spencer said.

The caretaker shook his head sadly. "I knew it. That world exists and Team Rocket are trying to use it to their advantage," he said.

"You mean that place exists," Spencer said quite shocked.

"Yes. But I'll tell you about that later. Right now we have to stop Team Rocket," the caretaker said.

"You're right. We have to go now," Spencer said.

So Spencer, Blaze, Sunny and the caretaker ran down into the chamber and inside was a large cave but no Team Rocket.

    Chapter 4
Inside the chamber, Spencer along with his pokemon Blaze and Sunny walked with the temple's caretaker along the cave path together in search of Team Rocket. It was quite dark but still light enough for the group to be able to see.

"So what's all this about another pokemon world and why are Team Rocket so interested in it?" Spencer asked the caretaker.

"The other world is supposed to be home to some highly intelligent pokemon, even more intelligent than this world's pokemon," the caretaker said as they walked down the path. "Its the same type of pokemon found in this world but in that world, they are said to have built their own civilisations, they have jobs and live their lives like humans."

"Wow. That's quite interesting. Pokemon who are as intelligent as humans," Spencer said quite fascinated. "How does Team Rocket know about it?"

"Two of Giovanni's spies came here two weeks ago as undercover pretending to be part of the Global Society for the Protection of Pokemon. They were so convincing that I foolishly told them about this place. They initially only wanted to steal some of the temple's treasures but then I told them about the other world, the world of Mystery Dungeon," the caretaker said. "This is all my fault, I should have just kept my big mouth shut."

"Don't blame yourself. You weren't to know they were of Team Rocket. Anyway we should be getting closer to them so we'll walk the rest of the way in silence," Spencer said. The caretaker agreed so they all continued down the path until they came to a large room. Inside was Team Rocket and a large crytsal on a giant rock in the centre. Admin Vernon was placing a small tracking device on it when the caretaker shouted at them.

"Stop it. You can't do this!" the care taker shouted alerting Team Rocket of the groups' presence.

"You're too late," Vernon said. "Very soon, Mystery Dungeon and all its pokemon will soon belong to Team Rocket,". He then pulled out a mysterious item from his pocket and the caretaker recognised it straight away.

"It can't be..," the caretaker said shocked. "It's an Azure Flute."

"Very good. Very soon, the portal to Mystery Dungeon will be opened and Arceus will be awakened to just a few notes from this flute," Vernon sneered.

"AWAKENED?" Spencer screamed. "Now wait just a darn minute." Vernon and the other rockets just laughed. It was now Fraser's turn to speak.

"Just think about it. There's a whole world of pokemon out there and they are as intelligent as humans. They will serve Giovanni and there's nothing they or anyone can do about it," Fraser said in a cold, hissing voice.

"Oh is that right?" Spencer said. "Sunny, use Thunderbolt on them."

Sunny started to use Thunderbolt but then the rockets all pulled out guns and pointed them directly at him. Sunny stopped before he could unleash the attack. Afraid of what they might do, he just stood there perfectly still.

"Good Raichu," Vernon laughed. He then looked at Spencer and ordered him to return his pokemon. Spencer had no choice so he recalled Blaze and Sunny as he and the caretaker were then both tied up by the grunts.

"Now you just keep quiet while we finish what we came here to do," Fraser said. Back near the crystal, Vernon began to play the Azure Flute with intent to open the portal and awaken Arceus.

"This is bad," Spencer whispered to the caretaker. "And there's nothing we can do about it. They really petrified Sunny and they scared me and Blaze too."

The room was then filled with a bright light as the crystal glew a shiny white colour.

"This is it," Fraser said as Vernon continued playing the Azure Flute. "Its really happening." After about ten more seconds, Vernon stopped playing as the cave started to rumble quite violently.

"Is this meant to happen?" Charlie asked.

"I don't know but what I do know is the portal hasn't opened and Arceus isn't here," Vernon said.

The caretaker then suddenly realised something. He couldn't explain the rumbling but he knew why the Azure Flute wasn't working.

"You fools. The Azure Flute won't work for anyone. It only works when the person has good intentions. You obviously are using it for evil purposes and it refuses to co-operate," the caretaker says.

"What are you talking about," Vernon said getting quite annoyed.

"The Azure Flute contains part of Arceus's soul and is connected directly to Arceus himself. It will never work for someone like you," the caretaker said.

"You mean we wasted our whole time trying to awaken Arceus and to open this portal and it was all for nothing," Vernon said now almost shouting.

"That's right and that rumbling, I bet is being caused some angry pokemon ready to take you down. So if I were you, I'd run for it," the caretaker said victoriously.

Vernon was now getting really angry. "KILL THEM BOTH," he ordered his grunts. As they pulled their guns out to finish off Spencer and the caretaker once and for all, they were tackled violently by some Aggron who threw Charlie and Leon against a wall knocking their guns out their hands. The Aggron crushed the guns with their hands. Seeing this, Vernon and Fraser fled as the Aggron then chased them. During the commotion, Spencer called out all his pokemon. Reggie untied Spencer while Blaze untied the caretaker. Leon tried to run but was cornered against the cave wall by Corey who tackled him and restrained him in the same way he had restrained Spencer during their previous training session but with a much tighter grip. Reggie pinned a slightly dazed Charlie to the floor as he tried to get up while Mikey had got back up but was again dragged and held down by Harvey. Sunny, Blaze and Justin didn't need to do anything as there were only three grunts. Vernon's playing of the Azure Flute had alerted some very angry pokemon and they weren't about to let Team Rocket get away. There was another exit on the other side of the cave besides the temple's entrance above them and they used it. As soon as he and Fraser were out the cave, which led them just outside Shinford City, a Pidgeot suddenly grabbed Vernon and flew off with him with intent to deliver its own style of justice. Fraser continued to run into the forest but was then surrounded by all sorts of angry pokemon on all sides. Fraser had nowhere to run and stood there for a few seconds before some of the bug pokemon used String Shot to tie him up and suspend him from a tree. Fraser was trapped and couldn't move and the forest pokemon decided to have some fun with their human captive.

The three grunts were later arrested and Vernon and Fraser were never seen again and it is unknown what happened to them. No-one witnessed the Pidgeot carrying Vernon away or Fraser getting captured by the forest pokemon.

Later, Spencer and his pokemon took a rest at the pokemon center. The chamber at the temple had been closed back and the caretaker was a lot more careful who he spoke to. Spencer returned to his base the next day and he had promised the caretaker he wouldn't breathe a word about the previous day's events or its secrets.
