Hi this thread is to talk about three starting pokemon of d/p andyou can talk about anything u want. So if you want to talk about these dudes here is the place.

Um buddy. We allready know about these pokemon theyre pretty much old newz. Well no kidding u didnt know about them because u only joined this month. Not trying to mod or anything.

ok sorry about that i really had no idea

well I guess I'll talk about them then. I really don't like Turtwig because when it gets to its final evolution it has a 4X weakness to Ice and when I play or battle I always get hit by Ice type moves

    :t354:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~

its either turtwig or piplup. I dont like chimchar. Why I dont really know

unpopular? i wouldn't say ANY of them are unpopular considering that even the anime has featured all of them all at the same time. that's the only good thing about this generation... perhaps every pokemon will get some feature in the anime, especially since a lot of them are evolutions/preevolutions.

I'll choose Piplup. Traditionally I always choose the water one xD

So is Swampert weak to Grass types by 4X. Yeah, I like Naetoru (Turtwig) and Pochama (Piplup) is also good. Comchar, nah.

Probably Chimchar for me. Turtwig's ugly. Seriously, I don't know what's wrong with its design but i can create a much better looking pokemon than that.. A weird looking turtle that hardly resembles a turtle if not for its shell, with a twig on its head.. I could do better than that when i was in kindergarten. Don't even get me started on Dotaitos.. wow, a turtle with a friggin tree on its back! How creative! Its name reminds me more of pizza flavored chips than a pokemon. I'd say of all the starter pokemon, Turtwig evolutions have got to be the worse, in fact it probably ranks in the bottom 5 of all 493 pokemon. Hayashigame's not bad though.. yeah it's basically a turtle with bushes on its back but at least it has style.. I guess it's not so much the idea but the fact that Turtwig and Dotaitos are just badly designed, period. That said, its stats look pretty solid though i'm trying to make sense of how grass+ground would work... That's 4x weak to flying and 4x weak to ice.. and grass and ground just seems like a rather bizare combo.. At least with Swampert it becomes one of the few pokemon that's resistant to bolt beam. What's grass+ground good for? poison and fire resistance perhaps?

Piplup is cute but Enperuto's pretty ugly too. That said, water+steel is a very intriguing combination... Steel gives it a bunch of resistances, and water helps cover steel's major weakness in fire.. but it still has tbolt weakness.. Its speed is a problem because it won't be able to take advantage of its high sp.att, and it's hp is too low to make it a tank with its high sp.def.

Chimchar is a decent looking pokemon(i think it looks pretty cool), though not original.. It's pretty obvious that Goukazaru looks more like Son Goku than a pokemon. That said, It's stats are great, his move pool is HUGE, and most of the moves are quite excellent, allowing it to be a versatile sweeper. Yeah, he's just a slightly different version of blaziken, but its speed is the fastest of all fire starters, and it has excellent att and sp.att. I really like his potential as a sweeper. I would probably pick him.

Edit: Got to say these are 3 of the worst looking starters to date though.. They're either poorly designed, or they lack originality. My gf was really looking forward to this game but now she doesn't feel like playing the game just because she finds the starters ugly.

    Ooh, D/P Starters.

I really like them all equally, so let's see...

Turtwig, very 'fun' looking, though Hayashigame makes me want to cry because it looks so bad. It looks more like it belongs in a 60's cartoon rather than Pokemon. Dodaitose is okay-looking, but due to its 4x weakness to Ice (and its uncanny resemblance to a Digimon), I probably won't choose it as my starter.

Piplup (fun name to say) is amazingly simple and cute, almost giving off that Kanto/Johto feel, which his nice. Pottaishi is fun to say as well and chubby, so it has the "I'm freaking cute but I can knock your head off" look. It's nice (although I'm not sure if it looks like it belongs in Pokemon). Enperte is maybe my favorite final evolution of a starter ever, save for Goukazaru . I'm enjoying the Steel subtype, and they made it look like it was metallic, yet it wasn't completely metal (which is what a subtype should be). This is the starter I'm going to chose for Diamond, I believe.

Chimchar is also ridiculously cute and it looks amazingly like an infant, which I have running around my house so it's fun to look at. There's not much to it, and if there was, I'd be a little disappointed. Moukazaru is pretty cool. It looks like it should be second in the evolution line, like it's a teenager still growing up. It's a plus for me. Finally, Goukazaru. This Pokemon is just plain creative. I'm in love with it (which is odd, because I usually hate fire starters, except for Charizard), and it looks as if it's like the Orangutan from The Jungle Book, King Louie. I'll be choosing Chimchup as my Pearl starter.

Note though, that I'm going to be trading to get all of the starters anyway.

One, Flying being unaffected by Ground does NOT make Flying supereffective against Ground. Two, Fire might be not-so-effective on Ground, but its supereffective to Grass, so it cancels out.

Steel is resistant to Elec, meaning that Thunderbolt will do the same thing to Enperuto as Fire does to Dotaitos.

Well, that's the first time I heard THAT comparison o.0

Yes, you don't like how they look. We got it the first time.

As for my opinion,....well, I'm getting both games, so I'm just going to start off with all 3, so I don't need to choose :P .

I like them all, I think all there last evos are extremely cool, exspecialy the empeor penguin thing, and I really like the tortoise with the tree and small mountains on its back! So many people say that pokemon looks stupid, but I think its awsome! The last evo of the monkey is okay.

I'm gonna pick Chimchar, seeing as I prefer fire pokemon over most other types. And it's cute! Grass starters generally annoy me, because they never seem as strong as the fire or water starters.. But that's probably just me xD

i am going to pick piplup or chimchar i generally pick the fire types or water but these ones r so cute the turtle 1 just looks plain weird.... i mean come on a turtle with a twig on its head its so not original!!

Well, Not Hikozaru, the fire/fighting type is too much like Blaziken and I will more than likley teach it the same Boring Movepool. Pochama, Maybe, Great Types but all its forms are fatsos, I Like Neatoru but its Double weakness to Ice is like Marshstomps double weakness to Grass, one hit kill even if the attacker is half the level... So i'm undecided Between Pochama and Neatoru...

Yeah... I'm sick of the fire-fighting. Theres just a ton of weaknesses (Water, ground, flying, psychic) and yeah, its going to be the same moves over again.
He looks cool, but i probably won't pick him because hes too much like Blaziken.

I'll probably pick the water type if i get the game. Hes cool, but not my fav. pokemon. (Ludicolo anyone? =D)
