    Ok.. I'm hoping that this thread's in the right place... If not it can be moved where appropriate

    Anyway.... This is a thread for those who are wondering if certain lines said by people in the show are also in the original Japanese version, or have been changed during the dubbing process.

    This, by no means, is meant to say that the Japanese version is neccessarily better than the dub...

    Of course... for this to work... there has to be people here that know Japanese and have seen the Japanese episodes... I'm hoping that's the case... ^_^'

    Anway.. I'll start off...

    In the episode 'The Heartbreak of Brock' Misty says the line which goes something like this...

    Someday you and I will get married some day

    I have read that this is not in the original version.. so what did she actually say?
     
    Murg on SPPf translated it once. I believe it had to do something with maturity rather than marriage. I suggest staying away from Pokeshippers on this one though. No offense to them, but quite a few have their facts wrong when it involves Satoshi & Kasumi (mostly because some want to hear what they want). x_x;
     
    Even then, I don't even think Misty was even saying that she and Ash would get married. I blame the fans for reading too much into things. o_O
     
    lol... Is that what she was originally saying? I never thought that the line was indicating anything significant anyway....

    I have some others for those who know (or are bothered)

    In the episode 'True Blue Swablu' there Max says

    ''Once she (may) had a crush on a boy in school.. and she...'

    This was also apprently dubbed, though there has been scrutiny in what was actually said in SPPf, I think...

    Also, another line from and Orange Island episode

    "Do you think people change after their first kiss?'
    'I'll guess we'll have to find out, won't we?'

    No surprise how others interpreted this.. But it feels dubbed in, and I just want to make sure....

    I think it was directly after Ash, Brock and Max find May sleeping next to the hurt Swablu... and she just wakes up...
     
    Ah. It was a simple comment about how she used to hate Pok?mon yet now she loves them quite alot.

    Lord only knows how many times 4Kids must insist that these kids have to have some kind of lovelife.

    Statements like that are funny because they can be interpreted in 2 ways. lol :classic:
    There's also another one "You and I will be married someday."
    You can interpret it as "You will get married someday and so will I."
    or "We will marry each other someday."

    Can anybody please translate what was said in the Japanese version?
     
    Sure seems that way, dosen't it?

    Actually, Carina, if what Shigeru-kun said was true, then Misty didn't actually refer to marriage at all- she just talked about maturity in that episode...

    Anybody else have quotes that they want clarified?

    If not... If you know a line that has been changed.... and you want to point it out cause it bugs you or whatnot.. then post it here too!

    Before anyone brings up the whole "Torchic, use Amber!" and a mushroom floats behind May, allow me to clarify it.

    Haruka original said "Achamo, kinoko!" Kinoko is Japanese for mushroom, which sounds very similar to hi no ko which is the Japanese name for Ember.

    I see... It's been a while since I've seen that episode... I'm not surprised that I don't remember...

    On a side note to a previous quote.. does anyone know why Misty slapped Tracey's book in his face? The dubbed version dosen't explain it all to well.... is the Japanese version any more clear?

    Then again.. it's been a while since I've watched those episodes too...

    Here's another line I've been wondering about...

    "Now I finally know how you feel about me?

    meh... I am absolutely sure that this is dubbed... but I'm not sure what the original line was

    Some people have said it went along the line of her hoping that Ash would get the message on her handkerchief.. are they correct?

    That's what I was just about to ask.

    I think the serebii guide says Kasumi was hoping Satoshi would get the message of the handkerchief. But yeah, I want to actually know the line...

    And the next one hasn't been dubbed yet so... *SPOILERS* I guess

    Y'know on the last episode of the Grand Festival, Shuu was walking off, and Haruka was looking after him, then all of a sudden Satoshi kinda shoves an ice cream cone in her face?

    And then I think Haruka's mom asks her something, and then Haruka starts blushing?

    I want to know what Haruka's mom said, because... I wanna know why she's blushing.

    lol... I'm willing to bet that alot of people think she's accusing May of liking Drew....

    What did she actually say? I'm not sure...

    In any case.. I've heard that the final reason she's blushing is that she wants to thank all her friends and family... I think... the debate thread has some of the pictures if you're curious...

    I saw the pictures, but I still want to know what's being sad. Nobody seems to know, but everyone is going "contest ship is teh uber cnaon lol"

    I just want to know if her mom accused her of liking Shuu, because that's what everybody seems to think without knowing what was said.
