(NOTE: This is the first installment of the newly-rehashed Eric Damon saga. This particular part will be inspired primarily by the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Rudyard Kipling, the minds behind "Tarzan" and "The Jungle Book" respectively. So in this story, the Pokemon will actually talk, much like the animal characters in the works of said authors.)
Chapter Zero: (Prologue/The Shipwreck)
It was a dark and stormy night, and the SS Ericsson, a medium-sized luxury ship for both humans and Pokemon, was on its way from Kalos to Hoenn, when it veered off course due to a severe hurricane overhead. The SS Ericsson was a very similar ship to Kanto's famous SS Anne.
Unfortunately for the eight hundred people, including both passengers and crew members, on board the SS Ericsson, the ship was about to collide with a large rock protruding out of the ocean.
Only fifty-five out of the three hundred panicking passengers made it onto the lifeboats in time, including a very precious baby boy and his parents.
Unfortunately, they were far out in the ocean, and the boat had an extremely long way to go before they could reach the nearest town, which was Mossdeep City.
The waves rocked the lifeboats constantly, and not even a mother's nurturing could keep this young infant remotely calm. He was only seven months old, and his parents had no idea what fate had in store for him.
A Sharpedo's dorsal fin could be spotted in the distance, but it was hard for most of the survivors to tell what it was due to some really intense fog. When they realized what was coming toward them, it was too late. The Sharpedo sliced the boat in half thinking it was a lost Sealeo. Luckily for the youngest survivor of the SS Ericsson, although his cradle was sent overboard, the Sharpedo had lost interest in the boat it had just destroyed.
The baby floated in his cradle, towards some islands that were, until today, untouched by man. The Damon Archipelago had been seen from above in airplanes, but no one bothered to explore it due to the dangerous waters surrounding them, and the fact that most planes that go near them seem to vanish without a trace.
The storm cleared after a few hours, and the cradle made it ashore on one of the islands, shortly after.
A lone female Pyroar noticed the foreign object that just washed up, and decided to see what it was exactly. She sniffed it, and the boy cried for a moment or two, but stopped to let out a little sneeze.
The rest of the pride of Pyroar and their young Litleo, soon arrived onto the beach.
"What is it, Mama?" One of the cubs asked his mother. "Is it food?"
"No, Koba, it's a baby. And even if we wanted to eat it, it would not even be enough to satisfy only your father." The mother Pyroar told him.
The lone male of the pride approached the cradle.
"Sekhmet, what's going on?" The majestic male Pyroar asked, wanting to know what all of the fuss was about.
"Mahatma, I can explain. This, whatever it is, washed ashore. A large metal Wailord died somewhere far beyond these islands, and this little one was left behind. I haven't seen anything like this before. I know it isn't of our kind, but it isn't enough to feed anyone in the pride. Not you, not myself, and none of the Litleo." Sekhmet, the alpha female of the pride, who discovered the baby, began to explain.
"I think this little one needs us to survive. After all, our last egg never hatched. We could raise it like one of our own. Let's keep it a secret from Temujin, just until it can defend itself. You know how Temujin hates the idea of outsiders." Sehkmet continued, and noticed a piece of metal with the name "Eric" on it, from the shipwreck.
Koba, the youngest Litleo, saw the debris, and thought of a name for this young child they found.
"Let's name him Eric." Koba suggested.
The other Litleo agreed, even though only Koba could surprisingly read human words somehow. This meant that nobody else in the pride knew where the name "Eric" came from.
Sekhmet nodded in agreement, and carried the cradle by the handle in her maw, and the pride went further inland to rest.
