ok i have a team of level 50's and i cant seem to get past some elite 4 members so basically i play them (level up sometimes) then faint and go back and do the same thing again. eventually i will be strong enough to overcome all the elite 4

is this like the worst way to level up pokemon?
    will their stats suck forever?

or will it just be the same as levelling up normally, because i really cant be bothered e.v training with this game just yet, i just wanted to know will this decrease my pokemons stats by using this method?

ps. help preferably from someone who knows what they're talking about ^.^

Well...I'd suggest using the VS Seeker instead. That way you won't lose money and you'll still gain EXP. The VS Seeker is how my Pokemon were a good level 80-85 by the time I made it to the E4 for the first time.

    where is this vs seeker!!!
    i dont have it
do you have to beat the elite 4 first??
i hope your still there, i wanna get cracking

You get it from a Woman inside the Vermillion Pokemon Center.

    yay thanx
**** i already did the faint thing like 20 times
    i can stop now though
i was trying to level up on stupid geodudes
this is like great, thankyou x1000

i never usually talk to people in the PC's, get this will teach me

I'n FR/LG it's good idea to talk with people cus they can give you some items,
And they help you fill the Fame Checker... (the thing u get from gary...)

    Erm..yeah..sure whatever.

Yes, battling the E4 is the worst way to level up for competitive battling purposes. If you're just going to be playing in-game, it won't matter since all you need is a level advantage.

Battling the E4 constantly will destroy how your EVs are spread out. If you want to fix that, breed new versions of your Pokemon so the babies will have zero EVs.

If you want to fill the Fame Checker, there's a section on all the locations for it in the FRLG FAQ.

yeah i mean for competitive battling
ah well too late to complain now

do the trainers level up every time you play them?

I never took notice of their levels. I think some do and some don't. Not sure though. It's been so long since I used the thing.

the one ive been battling against doesnt seem to be, some random trainer on way to seamfoam islands

his pokemon are staying at lv 27 which isnt helping me too much

I'd suggest battling the ones inside Victory Road right now. They're probably the strongest ones until you get to Seven Island, which you can't get to without defeating the E4.

try fight trainer one 1 - 3 islands...

some of them is strong too...

so...what difference does it make who you battle? when i grow a level in the e4, the stats seem to go up, like, 4-5 points

    yeah thats what i thought
my snorlax is happily growng 5 in hp and 5 in attack

Because battling random things just to get levels destroy how your EVs are set out. I doubt you even have any idea of what EVs are.

you could fight in Vroad for a while, but that time consuming.i suggest going with demons idea.
loosing money and leveling up that way is the worst way.pretty soon you be up there.
whats your party that your going in with?

actually, you're right...i probably know what it means, i'm just not familiar with the abbreviation...anyway, WHY does leveling up from the e4 instead of trainers have an effect on stats and stuff?

    its very complicated to explain
i think its in one of the FAQ's

A comment about the vs seeker. By Fusha city, Where they 3 bird trainers are on the left, I use those to train my steelix. One of them gets 4 level 47 ferows ( after u battle him for the 2nd time )
And my steelix is level 45 and still getting exp from them. So if u have any Rock/Ice/Electic to train i suggest there.
