why do people think the mew in mewtwo strikes back and movie 8 are different. they are the same mew

Any proof to back up this theory of yours?

I don't know. There's really no proof either way, to be honest. But it has been proven that there is more than one of many Legendary Pokemon. So I guess most people just base their opinions about it on Pokemon's track record, which is understandable.

Offcially there is not enough information gathered on legendary Pkmn such as Mew to prove how many are still left in existence. But to me the mew form the first mother is definitely NOT the same one from The Lucario and Mew movie, certain traits differed between the two not to mention there voices (I'm aware its cause its not the same person doing the voice, but really for accuracy sake they could of found someone who didn't do Mew voice so much deeper then the original's if they wanted to).

    NO, they're different.

They sound COMPLEATLY different, have very different personalities, and... maybe it's just me, but they even LOOK different (the one from the first movie looked more pink, and the one from the Lucario movie was more white)
Right I forgot about the slight appearance differences. And if I remember correctly, the Mew from the Lucario and Mew movie hand been at that castle for years making little mischiefs(sp) while the Mew from the first movie had been sleeping under water for what I can only assume was a long time so there is a bit of a problem about a mew can't be in the same place at once

I recall that at the end of Pokemon - The First Movie that both Mew, Mewtwo, and the Pokemon clones had flown off to an unknown place where they could live in peace. This shows that the Mew portrayed in the movie should be wherever Mewtwo is. Mewtwo isn't in the Tree of Beginnings, and neither are the several clone Pokemon. Also, as ~KiTsUnE stated, that the appearance and the color of the fur between the Mew are slightly different. The voices that the Mew had differ greatly, as one voice is much lower than the other. As it was stated in the movie, Lucario and Mew have been in the tree for quite a long time, whereas Pokemon - The First Movie's storyline only happened one to two years ago. If anyone recalls, there were two Deoxys shown in the movie. In one Johto episode, there was a parent Lugia and a baby Lugia named Silver who had befriended a little boy. To add on to that, some Pokemon have the ability to speak in one movie, but lose the ability in the next. Lugia for example, it had telepathy, but in the Johto episode it only made its Pokemon cry. That should be probable proof of two legendaries of the same species. I personally think that there are two different Mew, as there are several pieces of evidence to back this theory up.

Mew didn't go with Mewtwo in the end, or at least didn't stay with him and the clones, cause in the sequel you don't see Mew at all. Not saying I disagree with the whole being two Mews though...just thought I point it out for accuracy sake...

No proof backing up either side. Slight details considering voice and appearance prove nothing people. It could be a mistake in the movie or even just bad storytelling.

When they refer to Mew in all Pokedex's they call it "the ancestor of all Pokemon"

    Also: Mew is Mexican :3

i think there is an ALMIGHTY Legandery pokemon then copies decendents of that ALMIGHTY one with different personality and traits and abillities.
