TheSpeedGamers are a non-profit charity organization that holds gaming marathons, usually in 72-hour increments, to benefit other charities. The organization was found in March 2008 and have held 25 marathons and raised $309,896.64 for nearly 20 different charities.
Our upcoming weeklong marathon, from June 15th – 22nd, we will be catching all 649 Pokemon along with playing several of the games in the franchise. We will be gaming for ACT Today!, or Autism Care and Treament, that provides grant money for families that cannot afford or access the treatments their autistic children need. We have gamed for them before and consider them to be a very inspiring and worthy cause. We will also not be taking a single cent of donations for ourselves, instead 100% of the proceeds go directly towards ACT Today!.
Watch Live NOW https://www.twitch.tv/thespeedgamers And remember to donate.
Further details:
Over the course of 168 hours, we will be playing through 16 Pokemon games in the quest to get all the available Pokemon of the 649 total. We will have auctions for custom made Pokemon figurines made by Camille Young of Fangamer team (https://camilleart.com/), as well raffles and giveaways for various custom made Pokemon related art by many other outstanding artists. We will have prize boxes to give away that are guaranteed to have a Pokemon game inside and other Pokemon related merchandise. We will be providing extra incentives for donations by doing stunts and punishments in a Pokemon Theme.
The beneficiary of this marathon is ACT Today!, whose mission is to raise awareness and provide treatment services and support to families to help their children with autism. We've done three other marathons for ACT Today! and have raised over $115,000 specifically for them. Since 2008, however, we've raised over $300,000 total for various charities some of which, like ACT Today!, help families, raise awareness, and fund research.
