Thinking of starting a YouTube channel

I have been out of the scene for a while. I was quite well-known on the European Miiverse for Pokémon Shuffle as well as GameFAQs, but I've been struggling with my mental health and I haven't been online much. I'm thinking of starting back up though; at the moment my YouTube channel (avengah) just has a few gaming videos from years ago.

Unfortunately I've lost the momentum I had from before as a well-known Miiverse user - I became popular overnight after the first couple of Pokémon Shuffle competitions, as an early adopter of the Home Buffering trick. But Nintendo being Nintendo, any time I tried to reach out on Miiverse and hint at my YouTube channel - or even the very mention of GameFAQs without any personally identifying information - I would get banned due to Miiverse's unbelievable strictness.

I'm not quite ready to start the channel up at this time, but hopefully soon. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm in the same boat, just without having had an success. I have been thinking of starting a YouTube channel for higher-quality content for a long time. I had a Let's Play channel for several years, but it didn't get many views for various reasons. (For one thing, Let's Plays are kind of oversaturated on YouTube.) I've recently had an idea for a Pokémon-related YouTube channel, but I'm a little afraid of devoting too much time on it. (I am not skilled at orating without stuttering, and even with the ability of editing in the best takes, it'd take hours for me to record audio for a 20 minute video.) I'm not looking for money or fame, but it'd be nice to get some genuine comments that aren't from spambots.

My biggest piece of advice is that YouTube viewership is pretty unfair, so you shouldn't take a low view count as meaning you didn't make a good video. There's so many highly viewed YouTube videos that are bland and mediocre, stupid (though sometime that can be a subjectively good thing), or just plain hateful/inappropriate. The YouTube algorithm is weird, so don't let it control you or your videos.

I don't have a lot of other advice. Some people say to put your all into every video, but that's an easy way to get burned out quickly. Some would say just to have fun, which is generally good advice, but it won't necessarily get you views, likes, comments, etc. I guess I kind of replied to let you know you're not alone in this situation.
