Now I've very recently gotten back into Pokemon, the last game I bought was Soulsilver (with the last one before that being Silver on the GBC). So when I heard about 3D Pokemon and the fact you could have a Kanto starter I realised I needed Y in my life.

Fast forward a couple of months and end up at last week, I finally break and buy myself a 3DS and Pokemon Y. I played through it a fair bit and beat the elite four last night.

...that's it? I remember Pokemon games lasting hundreds of hours and the Elite Four being something you had to work hard to beat. But now I'm left thinking about what else I can do? I need to catch Zygarde still but what else is left after? The game felt way too easy as well, there wasn't a gym leader that I struggled with and there wasn't anyway I got stuck on. It was a very easy Pokemon game, and for that it's disappointing.

Don't get me wrong it's a great game, and the presentation is absolutely flawless. But it feels like it's missing a chunk out of it, like a third of the game is missing?

I've heard rumours about Downloadable content and the inevitable Pokemon Z coming out, but is any of this true? I'm all for DLC for this game, but the idea of having bought a game that will be out of date within a year is rather annoying.

I know there are more event Pokemon coming as well as the Pokebank, but in terms of actually expanding this game world and adding more to the game such as mega stones, customisations, new regions, what would the likelihood be? I swear I read somewhere that Nintendo was looking at DLC for this game.

Personally I'd love an extra region with 8 more gyms, like what they did with Generation 2 where you could go back to Kanto. And more Mega stones, want to see a Mega Lugia!

Games being out of date within a year is the trend in the gaming community now. Except for maybe skyrim or the long awaited destiny ( which is still unknown how they plan to execute follow ups ). Before I get bashed I am talking particularly about popular for front video games that a huge amount of ppl play and I'm not spitting on ppl who would like to think that they have been playing a game for years that it fits in this context nor do I care.
    Another thing is: get prepared for a storm and this thread turning into being all about dlc. One thing you will grow to learn in your absence is that Pokémon fans hate dlc for some unknown reason;
    For example
Me: dlc is the future of gaming and pkmn is in its prime window to produce some

After you beat the game, you can train to battle online but forget that most of them are type advantage spamming douchebags.

This is also a game where they could give us DLC but yet choose not to. I'd love to see a Kanto, Johto, and or Sinnoh DLC, it would atleast give us something to do.

I'm with you. I know the industry is looking at yearly installments as a way to milk the cash cow, but that is very old fashioned and I think it's starting to run it's course.

I'm glad you bought up Destiny, that and Pokemon I see as leading the charge on "universe" games, titles that you buy and are expanded on regularly with DLC and expansion packs, similar to the way MMO's do it.

Pokemon would benefit from this SO much, if the next generations can talk to this generation through DLC and expansions than that would be great. As I said I have no issue with expansions as long as they are justified.

I agree. Its so sad to see the gaming industry gradually becoming more superficial. In all aspects, not just game longevity.

Thankfully though like you said the Elder Scrolls community is always alive and well :)

I personally think that it is pokemons ultimate means to inherit dlc, the platform that is pokemon is delicate to its players but so open that they could do anything... add routes... add pokemon... I mean its the perfect set up. While I disagree that yearly instalments are old fashioned and I think that with technology getting faster and smarter by twice that speed it should be welcomed.
Back to my point, Pokémon has a long awaited and much welcomed seat in the new gen of dlc which is the future. A couple NPC's and 3 to 4 new pokes every two months or so would be more than enough.
I think that a lot of ppl that don't want dlc are scared they will have to pay for it, they come up with really good generic and totally biased arguments but its easier to see them as cheap skates. So what you payed 39.99 for a video game and have to pay 3-14 bucks for some extra content... it usually is roughly the turnover on the software upgrade+ a smidge of profit, to me its: bring on the dlc, all you can offer, my pockets are open

Honestly, the Post-Game is REALLY lacking in this game. However, you have to appreciate it for what it is. I honestly believe that this game was built for players to play COMPETITIVELY much easier, as made obvious by the ease of levelling up, and breeding for perfect IVs. I personally love playing video games competitively (such as this & COD) so I may appreciate the game much more than others. So if you are ever bored and have access to WI-FI, try some online battling, as its very ADDICTIVE & Fun

Speaking of difficulty, I remember in Platinum, actual difficulty. Possibly due to my total refusal to grind, almost every gym leader took multiple attempts. Once getting to the Elite 4, I begrudgingly accepted that level 40-44 is too underleveled for platinum. Weeks later, my team of level 57s entered the elite 4, coming out victorious. But after this, there was a feeling of accomplishment. It was tough. In Y, no training in the entire game, one shotted every single one of Dianthe's pokemon.

A big problem last generation is that they focused so heavily on story that the competitive scene went insane...This time around, it seems as though they focused mostly on solidifying pokemon as a multiplayer game and forgot about the part of the fanbase that still thinks of pokemon as a single-player game...My advice if you want the game to last longer without playing competitive: Make minimum use of the Experience All, don't Supertrain, and don't use any of the megas available to you...(I know they aren't all overpowered, but regardless, they still make the single player game very easy, due to AIs not being able to predict outside the Battle Maison)...

A big problem with this game is the level curve. Exp. Share messed it all. You can tell the enemies use strategy, but that is wasted when you're 15 levels above them most of the time.
