    The setting: Ash Ketchum's house
The time: almost nine o'clock at night
    The weather: pouring down rain
The people involved: Ash, May, Misty, Dawn, Brock, Holly, Drew, and Paul
    The pairings: AshxMay, MistyxDawn, BrockxHolly
    The scenario: karaoke party

"Oh, come on guys! I just bought the thing yesterday, I brought it with me, and I've been dying to use it!"
"Well, alright. Fine, Dawn, bring out the new Karaoke machine."
"Thanks, May. I shall do just that."
"Since when is she so into Karaoke?" Ash asked Misty as Dawn left the living room.
"I dunno." Misty replied with a shrug. "She saw it in the store yesterday and just had to have it."
"I actually enjoy Karaoke once in a while." Brock said.
    "…Right."
"What? Well I do, Misty. What's so odd about it?"
    "…Nothing."
"Okay, I can see you laughing behind your hand. What's so funny about it?"
"No one's laughing at you, sweetie." Holly said, gently patting Brock's forearm.
Brock immediately turned his attention to his new girlfriend, instantaneously seeming to forgot about Misty's snickering.
"Okay then--here it is!" Dawn announced, setting the machine down near the coffee table and beginning to hook it up.
"Ooh, it looks nice." May said.
"Yeah, it is. And, I bought a bunch of different CD's for it. Oh, this is gonna be so much fun!"
A moment later all of the proper wires were connected.
    "So, who's gonna be first?"
"Oh, well, I think we all just assumed that you would go first, Dawn." Misty answered.
"But I don't wanna go first. I'm weird like that sometimes."
"I'll go first!" Brock said enthusiastically, standing up.
"Al…rightey then. Brock is up first."
"Wait--I have an idea." May said.
    "What's that?" Ash replied.
"How about we have our own little version of American Idol? Only, no judging."
"But, how can it be a competition without any judges?" Drew pointed out. "I mean, having no judges defeats the purpose of a competition, right?"
"Oh, you're just irked because you're the only one here without a girlfriend." Dawn said.
"That's not true." he replied. "Neither does that Paul guy."
    "Pfft." Paul said.
"Well, you don't. But that's besides the point. If it's going to be American Idol, then there must be judges. In fact, I volunteer to be a judge."
"Well isn't that great?" Ash said. "Drew's only going to give good scores to the girls! And besides, isn't having only one judge just a bit unfair in general?"
"Someone's being over-dramatic." Paul said, smirking.
"Remind me why you're here again, Paul?" Ash said, turning to look at him.
"Because I was invited to participate in a special championship tournament in the Kanto region."
"Okay…but that's not what I meant. What I meant was why are you here, in my house?"
"Oh. Because after my ship out of here got delayed, I went to the Pokemon Center, only to find them completely booked up. I was planning on camping outside, but it started raining. Dawn's red-headed girlfriend there saw me walking along the side of the road in the rain, and she offered me a ride to her friend's house. And now I'm here."
Misty mouthed the word ''sorry'' to Ash as he shot her a dirty look.
"But since you're so tetchy about having only one judge, then I guess I can volunteer to be a judge, as well."
"Wonderful…" Ash sighed, shaking his head. "Now I won't have a chance in hell."
"Oh, that's not necessarily true." Holly said.
"You only say that because you don't know Paul very well." Ash replied.
"Well, if it really is all that bad, then I guess I'll be a judge, too." Holly said. "I'll be completely unbiased."
"And you won't give a high score to Brock just because he's your boyfriend?" Misty asked.
"Nope. I'll only give him a high score if he deserves one."
"Well, alright then." Dawn said. "Let's begin!"
She walked over to stand in the middle of the living room.
"Ladies and gentlemen…this is American…er, Kanto Idol. I am your host, slash contestant, Dawn Berlitz. And here are your judges for the evening--"
"Is that entirely necessary?" Paul asked, cutting Dawn off.
"Quit being rude to her," Misty said. "Or I'll un-invite you back out into the rain, Paul."
Paul put his hands up, as if in surrender, but still rolled his eyes.
"Erm…as I was saying," Dawn continued, the moment clearly gone. "Here are your judges for the evening--Drew, Holly, and Paul. Whatever. Go ahead Brock."
"Erm, okay then, Dawn. The song I'll be singing is…"
He picked up the empty CD case off of the coffee table before him and skimmed down the list of tracks.
"Ah--got it--I'll be singing When A Man Loves A Woman, and I'm dedicating it to you, Holls'."
Holly blushed at this, but smiled happily.
"God, please let an asteroid drop from the sky and kill me now." Paul groaned.
"Yes, God, please take that particular request into great consideration." Ash added, looking up at the ceiling, his hands clasped in mock prayer.
"Oh, knock it off, you two." May said. "Go ahead, Brock."
Dawn pressed the button on the remote and the song started up.
    ….. ….. …..
Everybody clapped as the song came to a close. Brock took a sweeping bow, winking at Holly, who blushed again.
"And now for the judges' thoughts." Dawn said, gesturing towards Drew.
"Hmm…well, it actually wasn't all that bad. Nice singing voice, a little overzealous at times, what with the falling on your knees in front of Holly and crying during the second chorus, but overall a good performance. I give you a score of three out of five."
"Five?" May questioned. "Why not ten?"
    "Hmm?"
"You said 'out of five', Drew. Why not out of ten?"
"Oh, well, when it's out of ten there's a lot more numbers to have to deal with. It's simpler with it being out of five."
    "Oh, okay the-"
"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard." Ash said, cutting May off.
"When it's out of ten there's too many numbers." he said, repeating Drew's words in a childish, mocking tone.
    Drew blinked once, before smirking.
"Er…uhm…okay then," Dawn said, a bewildered expression on her face. "On to you, Paul."
    He sighed and said,
    "Whatever the green-haired guy said."
"It's chartreuse, thank you very much." Drew said.
    "Whatever."
"Alright," Dawn continued. "On to Holly……Holly? Holly!"
"Wha-Oh! The score--sorry." she stammered, having only then stopped giggling at whatever it was Brock had just been whispering into her ear. "I say Brock gets five out of five."
Everybody else simultaneously sighed and rolled their eyes at this.
"Okay," Dawn said. "Who's up next?"
    "I'll go." May said.
The petite brunette got up from the couch and walked over to the machine.
"Hrmm…" she said, now looking at the tracks. "Got it. Okay, I'll be singing a Taylor Swift song. Our Song, in fact."
"Nice choice." Dawn said, pressing the play button on the remote.
    … … … … …
May winked at Ash and blew him a kiss as the song ended, causing him to grin goofily.
"Well, let's see what our judges thought…"
"Five out of five." Drew said immediately.
    Dawn blinked.
"…Well, awesome score, there, May…let's see what Paul thinks."
"I don't do country music. Zero out of five."
"What?!" May exclaimed, only to be startled further when Ash jumped up from the couch.
May quickly stood up and wrapped her arms around his torso, holding him back.
"Pfft." Paul said. "You can't act like you're going to kick my ass just because I gave your girlfriend a bad score. Grow up."
Still seething slightly, Ash reluctantly sat back down on couch.
    "….Holly?"
"Nice voice, cute song, I'd say…four out of five."
    "Thanks Holly!"
    "You're welcome, May."
    "So, next?"
"Why don't you go, Ash?" May suggested.
"Well…alright." he said, getting back up.
Ash took a while to contemplate all of the possible song choices, only finally picking something out when Misty threatened to shut him inside the basement with Paul if he didn't hurry up.
"Ash, sweetie…" May said in a tentative voice. "Are you really sure that Ride Wit Me by Nelly is the best song choice for you?"
"Well, why shouldn't I sing it?" he replied.
    She sighed and said,
"Oh, no reason. Go for it."
"Yeah, who knows? He might nail it." Dawn said, before bursting into laughter, causing Ash to give her a dirty look.
"Well I'm sorry," she said, still laughing. "But I really couldn't say it and keep a straight face…"
    "Just push play, Dawn."
    ……. …….. ……..
As Ash's performance came to an end, he looked to see that everyone had had different reactions. Both Misty and Dawn were literally on the floor, clinging to each other as they laughed themselves out of breath. Holly was staring at him as if he were some magnificent circus side-show freak display. Brock sat beside her, rubbing the temples of his head as if he had a migraine. Paul had a slightly scared expression on his face, and May had her hands over her face, like it was too terrible to watch. Drew simply sat there, displaying his most snide smirk.
"…Judges…go ahead…" Dawn managed in-between gasps for breath.
"That was unbelievable." Drew said, still smirking. "I'm tempted to give you a five out of five just for making my day by humiliating yourself like that."
    "Why I oughtta…."
"But, sadly for you, that's not what the judging is about. So, I'd have to say…one out five."
Drew looked to see that Dawn was still resembling a fish out of water.
    "Guess it's your turn, Pete."
"My name's Paul. And I'm not even going to dignify what Ash just did with a rating."
Ash's eyes narrowed as Drew's smirk reappeared.
    "On to you, Holly."
"Er, well…I don't wanna be mean…" she said, a slightly uneasy expression on her face. "I guess you deserve something for effort at least, so…two out of five."
With a heavy sigh, Ash trudged back to the sofa and plopped down on it. May put her arms around his shoulders consolingly and hugged him.
"It wasn't all that bad." she whispered so only he could hear.
"Phew…" Dawn said, finally overcoming her fit of the giggles and getting back to her feet. "So, I guess Misty is next?"
"Alright then." the red-head replied, taking a few steps over to the Karaoke machine.
"Actually," she said, picking up the microphone. "I already know which song I want to sing. It's a little ditty by Meredith Brooks called I'm A *****. Hit it, Dawn!"
    …….. ……… …………
"Whoo!" Dawn exclaimed as Misty ended the song with a light curtsey. "That was awesome!"
Misty blushed slightly as she put the microphone down and walked over to sit back down.
"Judges, you know what to do."
"Well," Drew said. "She has a good singing voice, it was an overall good performance--I give it a four out of five."
    "Alright. What about you, Paul?"
    "Eh, three, I guess."
    "Okay. Holly?"
"I agree with Drew--four out of five."
"Alright then, some good scores all around for my Misty." Dawn said with a wink at her.
"Yep, and now it's your turn, Dawn."
    "Yep, I guess it is."
Dawn handed the remote to Misty and walked over to the machine.
"I'm going to be singing Umbrella, which is, of course, by Rihanna. Push play, Misty."
    …………….. …………… …………….
"So," Dawn said after the song was over. "What did you all think of my performance?"
"It was pretty damn good." Drew said. "Four out of five."
"I don't do hip-hop either." Paul said. "Zero out of five."
"Oh, what does he know? Five out five, Dawn." said Holly.
"Well," Dawn replied. "Thank you Drew and Holly. As for you Paul, you can just kiss my-"
"Okay then, that's enough Karaoke time." Misty said, getting up and walking over to Dawn. "We now have to choose a winner."
"Okay…" Dawn replied, a sour expression still on her face from Paul's remark. "So, who was keeping score?"
Everybody looked at each other, but no one answered.
"No one kept score, did they?" Dawn asked, sighing apathetically.
    "Apparently not." May answered. "Sorry."
"Eh, whatever. It's alright. It's more fun this way anyway--no one can be irked that they didn't win."
"Oh, for the love of all things both holy and demented!" Paul exclaimed, getting to his feet. "You people made me rate your stupid little sing and dance routines, only to find out that in the end it didn't really matter if it was rated or not?!"
"Oh, stop it. You didn't even sing." Dawn pointed out.
    "Of course I didn't--I was a judge."
"Well, now that it's over you can." May said. "Now you can sing your heart out."
"Yeah, and no one will even judge you." Misty added.
Paul stared at them all blankly, before saying,
"You're all a bunch of losers. I'd rather be out in the rain."
And without further ado her left Ash's house, indeed walking out into the downpour.
"Okay God," Ash said, looking up at the ceiling. "Here's your chance--he's outside--release the asteroid."

    What. The. Heck.

A giant block of text, no description of characters, or Ash's house...and I don't even know who Holly is. Must've forgotten her.

I don't even think I can give this a proper review...all I can say is to hit enter twice when someone new is speaking...and...add description. And go check out the stickies...since 90% of this is dialogue...

    It's...a...bit...dodgy...
    Well...the last line was classic...
