Alright, this may be a stupid question but "Is gold version superior between gold and silver?" This is what my friend asked and I said theres no difference or anything. But my friend keeps insisting Gold is alot harder. I beated all three version (including Crystal) and the only difference I found was appearing pokemons and how they looked. So I want to get this cleared and stuff. Is he right about gold being superior and more challenging compared to silver version?

Another thing I want to ask. When you first played gold/silver/crystal, did you find Karen, the dark-typed elite four, challenging? Because i found her easy while my friend struggled against her. Hes blaming the starter pokemon, which is BS, since we both chose the same starter Cyndaquil.

The only change in difficulty is what starter you chose. Charmander makes RB really hard, Chikorita (I believe) makes GSC really hard. There's no noticeable difference between the two, unless someone wants to crunch the numbers on the version-exclusives' stats and come up with a percentage for each. Even then, it would be negligible.

I played through all three when they first came out and, as far as I can remember, the only difference was the version exclusive pokemon between gold and silver. One of the games was not harder than the other.

I also don't remember having any trouble with the elite four.

NO difference except for the sprites and version-exclusive Pokemon . (Sanshrew on G , Ekans on S <-EX.)

I did think that sprites on Gold, overall, weren't as good-looking as those on Silver, but other than that and version exclusives, the games are the same.

As for Karen, I don't recall having too much difficulty with her. It probably depends on the team as a whole and what moves they have.

As for your friend's claim, both Feraligatr and Meganium would have a more difficult time with Karen than Typholosion would, since Feraligatr's weak to Vileplume and Meganium is weak to both Houndoom and Murkrow. Typhlosion doesn't have any particular type weaknesses to any of her Pokemon.

They are basically the same except for the Sprites and the Pokemon. The league was easy to me :P
