Tips for Guardian Signs mission?

In Guardian Signs, I'm passing time by playing past missions. But, I'm stuck at the mission 'A pokemon forest in the way'. I have a quick way to get the four Bulbasaurs (Chatot's assist, then one loop), but Tangrowth is hard to beat. My partner is Chatot. So, anyone got any tips on how to beat Tangrowth?

Also, I don't have Wi-fi, so group captures are impossible for me.

I'd have asked this in the Q&A thread, but this seems more like asking for tips than asking for a specific answer.
