    It's good to be back.

Here's where you can discuss today's appearance of Champion Cynthia and her "fierce" battle with Paul in today's episode, "Top-Down Training!"

    I'll talk later.

Here are my thoughts on the episode

    - Cynthia's voice actor was good .
    - Team Rocket was hardly needed in the episode
    - Cynthia was funny
    - Paul got owned.

Can't wait until I see it. And you said Cynthia's voice actor did good, Ardhamon. I'll take your word for it. Until I see it, that is.

    Gosh I got beat >.<

I liked this episode, although it is weird how Paul just withdrew all of his pokemon for his fight against Cynthia.

Croagunk's expression made me laugh. It actually didn't stab Brock for once!

Cynthia wasn't all to serious. ^.^ I like that about her. *lawls at the Ice cream part*

    Overall, awesome episode.

    Awsome!

    I like Champion Cynthia's personality.She is cool,fun,serious during battles,strong,and nice.
Garchomp looked a little bony though......
Paul actually thought he could beat her,Wow!,he got some nerve!
Though i did feel sorry for him when they all made fun if him.It was good to know how he started off and how he got the rest of his pokemon.I liked the icecream part too.The crogunk part was actually a bit funny,i guess Brock's luck is turning!I have a feeling she actually went through to Paul, because in the end he listend to her and went to the Pokemon Center.

mwh it was a decnt episode (well thats rare) i loled at paul, ice beam on weavile is lol...

I was surprise that Paul's last pokemon was kinda weak against Garchomp with one shot wow! And man when Cynthia ate her ice cream combo she kinda ate that pretty fast before Paul came and want to battle her so this episode was a good episode and also man Ash and Dawn learn lots of pokemon in this episode.

(Kay.. I typed all this once, but my internet died.. x-x; )

Team Rocket was in the episode??

xD; Kidding... but I really didn't remember them being in it much.

Maybe I was too busy paying attention to Shinji..

I've always been fond of Shirona, and so her together in the same episode as Shinji makes for a pretty good episode,
in my opnion. I also really like watching her battle, but I found it funny that Shinji thought he stood a chance against her,
with mostly unevovled Pokemon (which he refuses to really train..). Still, his Torterra is cool. ^^

    & Poor Hikouzaru.. I feel sorry for it.. but it reminds me of how I view certain Pokemon of mine in the games. ^^;;
Then again, I guess thats what they were going for with Shinji's character.

All in all, I like the episode alot, but its not one of my top favs or anything.

    Hurray for Shirona~! x3
    and her VA was awesome.

& apologies for using the Japanese names.. ^^;; It's just a habit. >>; Didn't even realize it..
I bet everyone knows that Shinji is Paul, but if anyone is curious Shirona is Cynthia.
    I love her Japanese name. x3;

I loved this episode! I remember seeing the Jap version of this episode a while back, but I've been waiting for the ENG dub. Cynthia owns! I love her caring personality reminds me of Steven from Hoenn for some reason. The ice cream bit at the start was funny lol, mint, vinalla and chocolate? LOL. The girl knows her ice cream. Her Garchomp was very impressive, the way it took that Frenzy plant? Hot battle! I felt sorry for little Chimchar, paul just puts it down, heck the fire spin was impressive enough for me. I can't wait til Ash gets him, he'll be treated better, hang in there chimchar! I actually almost through Torterra was going to win but what the heck? One hit knockout from....Brick Break?! lol, at Paul's face. Very good episode! Can't wait for next week's episode.

WOW!!!!! Finally saw it as the dub! It was just so great!

Cynthia was really funny and loose compare to the other Champion which was Lance, we have had before and had a lot more personality. I guess appearing in just a regular filler episode just let that happens and makes it a bit more intresting. She was really lay back and very coolies. It took her forever to just think about what she wanted to have in her cone which is funny since she is able to call those moves fast but not her ice cream. Teeheehee

In this episode I really felt bad for Paul during the battle. It wasn't because he was losing but how others were just yelling at him and just saying mean things about him. I mean he did deserve it but still was kinda mean. Still at least this episode was important because it mention a bit into the storyline about what we hope will go into Sinnoh Legendaries and also about Paul's past.

Team Rocket. Episode wise they weren't really needed but int the long run, this moment when they steal Chimchar is going to count. It is just another nail in the coffin you can say. Still I don't want to say too much since really everybody knows about it now and for those that don't I don' want to ruin it for them. Teeheehee Still on a side note, I think this is the first time we seen Team Rocket sell ice cream. Teeheehee

Cynthia sounded great in this episode. This episode totally surpassed my expectations. The battle was great, albeit one-sided, and overall, the episode was dubbed quite well.

I liked Cynthia's laid-back personality. Well, it's not what'd you expect a Champion to behave, so it's a surprise in this aspect.

Paul was a jerk, as always, but he still shows respect to Cynthia. However, he got ridiculed pretty bad. The fact that he would just challenge the Champion like that signifies his boldness.

    Episode comparison time.

    https://dogasu.bulbagarden.net/comparisons/diamond_pearl/ep040.html

Today, Dogasu gushes about the episode, PUSA's non censoring of the tablet, wishing Cynthia's VA to be Gardenia's instead, and the dub throwing about more game canon terms again (Amity Square).

Also, there's a tiny D/P movie issue on the dub end, involving Brock's line about Dialga/Palkia. Silly dubbers and movie continuity. Heh.

Wow, that comparison came out fast. I only watched it a few hours ago...

Yay! Good episode! At first I didn't like Cynthia's voice, but then I really liked it.

    - The battle at the start seemed random. Was it a tournament?
    - LOL Cynthia STOLE Team Rocket's ice cream! She didn't pay XD
    - There were quite a few movie BGMs in this one. I noticed some from movie 8 and movie 1 (both dub and original movie)
    - Suck up to Cynthia time!
    - I found it hilarious how they all laughed at Paul. I don't mean I find it funny they were making fun of Paul, I just thought the crowd were stupid
    - Yay Regi BGM!
    - Haha a million 1HKOs
    - I hate it when 1 BGM starts, an advert comes in, then at the SAME SCENE a different dub BGM comes up. It sounds so stupid and it'll look really bad when it comes out on DVD. Or sound, at least
    - HUH...? The Croagunk thing confused me...Cynthia stopped Croagunk from Poison Jabbing Brock. Is Croagunk a boy or girl?
    - Yay! Wobbuffet interrupting again! I missed it during late Battle Frontier/early DP
    - Hmmm...Chimchar would be treated WAY better with Team Rocket. I'd rather live with Team Rocket and lose everyday than live with Paul and win...
    - Team Rocket's Sinnoh BGM is epic, seriously. Why won't they release it???
    - At the end when Paul is in the house, it looks like he's trapped XD I don't know why, it just looks as though he wants to get out but can't

    Quotes
Meowth: And that top of the line trainer babe!

Meowth always makes me laugh XD

Jessie: Everytime we turn around we get burned!
James: Will you stop with the fire jokes?

Just...no. At first I didn't get it. Then I rememeber that "burn" thing. It wasn't even cool when it started. I remember when me and a few other people on another forum didn't know what "burn" meant so we made a load of comments asking what the avatar had to do with fire XD

Oh yeah, Cynthia is definatly WAY better than Lance. Lance was just an annoying hacker who promoted *himself* to champion. Cynthia actually proved she is the champion.

Well, with past movies it doesn't really matter between what episodes the movie came in through the season. So I suppose what Brock said is just foreshadowing, since the dub trio haven't seen them yet.

Su? Lance promoted himself to Champion? I be thinking taking from what Lucian said that Lance too became champion by defeating his fellow E4 members in the Johto Leauge just like Cynthia did. Still Cynthia was a better champion since she was more lay back and coolies. Teeheehee

Amity Square was dub only. I wonder why PUSA has been doing that a lot latly. First the PokeMart and now this. I hope we don't go to Amity Square then or this will be kinda strange. Teeheehee

    He's been busy lately. Heh.

The Lance issue: to be fair, the series has promoted him as a G-Man and even stealing the canon shtick of other Champions (looking at ya, Wallace). So, I wouldn't think Lance as a Champion, per se, anymore.

As for the continuity issue, it doesn't matter, but it's just interesting to note. Like Dogasu said, Takeshi gave a noncommittal answer, while Brock clearly implied he hadn't met em yet.

Of course, now that movie continuity is merging (that Deoxys episode), expect a few rough patches until the next one. Either way, it's just fun to speculate.

To be kinda off topic, I meant to say this during the Sphere of Influence episode discission, but to go along with Charaxes comment about continuity. If you notice during the episode when Ash and friends were looking at one the displays. You can see the castle thing that will be shown during Movie 10. I wonder if anybody notice that and can see that the writers are leading up to the movie. Still what Jorah said we still haven't even seen anything about the movie in the US so it is okies to say that.

I wonder if we will ever see Wallace ever. Teeheehee

Indeed, and I wouldn't know what to look for in "Sphere" until I saw the movie, so good catch, there, Reyna. While we're on that, the Lustrous Orb got mentioned, according to Dogasu's mini-synopsis (needs to watch). I guess everything is up in the air at this point.

Edit: Yeah, let's not get started on Wallace. Heh.

I remember seeing the castle during one of the previews I saw before the movie. Or was in on a movie poster? Not sure but it seems like the writers are really doing a good job in kinda tieing in the things from the movie into the show. With the two Orbs and that it kinda coolies. Do you think the unown will get mention too since they kinda appeared on the tablet in this episode and then later on they will have an episode featuring them in the near feature.

Yeah, the displays were kinda hinky to me. Obviously, they appeared to be foreshadowing for something; otherwise, why is it there? Unless PokeAni or Bulbapedia says different with official production notes, we can only go by that.

    As for the Unown...

    Spoiler:

And let's steer back to the episode. Here's a thought, Cynthia seemed to be most care-free of the Elites. Of the Elites covered: Bruno was profound, yet lazy, Lorelai's vacantness concealed depth, Lance was straightforward, Drake was gruff but instructive, Agatha was cagey and grounded, Lucian was Drake without the curtness and Cynthia seems to be the most relaxed/laid-back.

Interesting. I think I got everyone properly.
