I wanted to make a team based on RP Torterra.
*bulbagarden.net image removed*
With that being walled by grassers and Weezing, essentially, I decided to add a CB Azumarill to act as a lure for the grassers w/ Ice Punch.
*bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed*
Still having no answer to Weezing, and having two physical attackers that would really dislike being burned, I added Houndoom to the rooster to take the wow's for the team. Also helps with killing grassers, and since I hate duggy being a pain, I added sucker punch to it.
*bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed*
Now, I wanted a reliable lead that could set up SR, while also serving as a spinner to keep doom and azu healthy. I eventually ended up with Kabutops, since it could switch into A-jets and most priority that would be aimed Houndoom's way.
*bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed*
Having two fighting weaks and two ground weaks added, Rotom felt like a natural choice. I wanted something that could help Houndoom pull her weight more, since it atm was walled by chansey and the likes, so I created a Sublo set that could set up at its usual counters (like registeel and chansey), but that didn't mind being forced out as much as the subcharger. It also helped with Weezing.
*bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed*
Raikou would pretty much wreck me if it got rid of Azumarill when I made this, so I used a CB Sceptile as my last pokemon to serve as a general revenger. However, when it left, it got swapped out by a Specstile, due to the main reason I ran physical vanishing to BL. With this happening, I realized that I was DD Feraligatr weak after a few matches, so I scarfed it and called it a day.
*bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed**bulbagarden.net image removed*
And that essentially is the story of the Torterrorists, the team that either aims to make Houndoom sweep, or have Torterra wreck everything.

Kabutops @ Rindo Berry
Nature: Adamant
Trait: Battle Armor
EV's: 252 HP | 252 Attack | 4 Defence
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Waterfall/Stone Edge
- Aqua Jet
Kabutops was a decent lead back in good ol' Froslass days due to the fact that it could prevent it from getting more than one layer down, and spin them away right afterwards. With Froslass now gone, it doesn't prevent it from being a good lead, however, due to it being gone, there is less of a reason to run SE. Leaves me walled by grassers and Cloyster, but meh. Rindo allows it to survive a HP Grass from Moltres and ko back with Waterfall. Also has the benefit of not being broken by Fake Out. Ensures that spikes n' stuff are off early game.
How it fares vs the top 15 leads:
- Froslass - Gone. Stay away! ;D
- Ambipom - Usually never stays in, but if it does, it
- Uxie - I get SR up no matter what. If it tricks me a scarf, I get a potential revenger \o/ Also means free setup for Rotom.
- Moltres - Waterfall. If it stays in, it is dead.
- Kabutops - Set up rocks and spin, basically. I've considered running a 30 IV in speed on it to get the slower spin as they set up rocks, but that might just be silly.
- Mesprit - Again, a scarf doesn't really prevent me from setting up rocks. "Go rotom"
- Hariyama - Uggggh, serious pain, aka the Anti-lead Machamp of UU. Waterfall does a number, but a Guts/LO CC OHKO's. I can either choose to get rocks up, or go Rotom -> Azumarill to take the CC and Payback, respectively.
- Spiritomb - Rocks get up. Waterfall is pretty strong with no wow.
- Alakazam - Again, ugh. I go to rotom for the F-blast, and it has a decent chance of surviving the psychic + lo recoil. After that I go to Houndoom and just Sucker Punch it.
- Omastar - Thank you for the free SR. If it spikes up, I just spin.
- Hippopotas - SR. Go to rotom for the EQ.
- Cloyster - I lose to this if they start attacking right off the bat, but most stuff should ko it on my team. The lack of SE hurts here.
- Electrode - I do not get rocks up :< Waterfall + Ajet.
- Rhyperior - Hates waterfall and dies.
- Venusaur - Go to Houndoom to take the Sleep. (this is kinda annoying as duggy loves switching in on it as it sleeps, and w/o rocks sucker punch doesn't have a guaranteed ohko >: )

Rotom @ Life Orb
Nature: Timid
Trait: Levitate
EV's: 252 Sp. Att | 252 Speed | 4 Defence
- Substitute
- Pain Split
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
Probably the most fun set I've used in a while. People expect rotom to be defensive, run a subcharge set, or be scarfed - but this one simply allows it to pack far more power than the subcharger immediately, and allows it to beat or at least soften up Chansey for Houndoom. Grounds that expect to wall the subcharger are also all smashed barring Steelix, which I can sub + split for it to get really down on hp as it gyro's, leaving me free to Shadow Ball it eventually. Pain Splitting on stuff like Lanturn is fun as heck too.

Houndoom @ Life Orb
Nature: Naive
Trait: Early Bird
EV's: 92 Attack | 192 Sp. Att | 224 Speed
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Sucker Punch
Duggy is usually the best switch-in to houndoom, but due to it carrying Sucker Punch, it might end up dying to it fairly often. However, if it is the pure NP set, duggy will have no fear in revenging... Poor thing. 92 Att allows it to ohko duggy with sucker after SR damage 100% of the time, and NP makes up for the loss in SpA. Speed EV's allow it to outrun positive speed Rotom aka + 91's. Loses to poliwrath + hairymama n' stuff due to the loss of HP Flying :<
This enjoys Rotom weakening/ clearing out Chansey, and Milotic. (Milotic usually survives one assault from Rotom and can KO back, so it works in a pinch vs it if my opponent is desperate enough)

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Trait: Huge Power
EV's: 240 HP | 252 Attack | 16 Speed
- Waterfall
- Double-Edge
- Ice Punch
- Aqua Jet
Way strong. Just spam Double-Edge on a predicted switch, and something dies. Well unless they predict it too, and switch in Rotom or something >: Ice Punch is also there if I think a Grass is incoming like Tangrowth, so it allows me to clear the way for Torterra later.

Sceptile @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Timid
Trait: Overgrow
EV's: 252 Speed | 252 Sp. Att | 4 Defence
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Suck
- Energy Ball
Slapping a scarf on a already way fast poke is not the best idea in the world, but I've had quite the good experience with this.
Basically, Sceptile serves as a check to DD Gatr, DD Altaria (lol) and Rain Dance in general, since my two reliable priority users fail to kill them both, and Sucker Punch never works when you want it to. :/
With timid it outspeeds max speed Adamant Kabutops in rain, which is enough for me. Also lets me revenge practically anything. This was originally a Band set to serve as a Raikou check, which changed into Specs until I realized how DD Gatr weak my team was, and I had to outplay it and kill it with Azu A-jet.. >: So, yeah.

Torterra @ Life Orb
Nature: Adamant
Trait: Overgrow this should so totally get Battle Armor
EV's: 252 Speed | 252 Attack | 4 HP
- Rock Polish
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
Essentially, this one is either played rather early if I sense a weakened grass thanks to Azu, and lets Houndoom do the late-game sweeping, or it is left last and dooms the opposition. Really not much to say, it is walled by grassers and Weezing, which should be killed off by Azu and anything else on this team barring Sceptile and Kabutops, respectively.

Immunities to types on this team are quite few, but important, as every immunity gives a poke a chance to set up and sweep, if a choicer gets tempted. Idk what to say here really.

- Absol - Nothing can switch into it barring Torterra perhaps, but then again it cannot switch in/ set up on anything either barring perhaps -4 Sceptile.
- Aggron - One rock resist. Torterra will always survive a Head smash, outspeeds it and KO's with EQ, but I usually just sacrifice something and proceed to either RP or EQ. Also Sceptile outspeeds even the RP variants, and two A-jetters kills it off as well.
- Alakazam - Priority. Lead variants is a pain in the butt though.
- Altaria - Sceptile if it is DD. Otherwise Rotom can do a load to it, and Houndoom serves as semi-backup.
- Ambipom - Kabutops does a load to it with Waterfall + A-jet, Azu can kill it, and unless it runs HP Ice 60 Torterra is a fairly decent check too. Sceptile kills it no matter what.
- Arcanine - Kabutops lol's at this one barring CB T-fang. Azu kills it off as well, and Houndoom can take it out if it is at low enough health with a SP.
- Azumarill - Azumarill/Kabutops serves as a half-way check, though nothing really can switch into it unless I predict.
- Blastoise - Rotom and Sceptile.
- Blaziken - "Aqua Jet". Also it loses to Houndoom as well if it switches into a Fire Blast + SP :x
- Chansey - Unless it runs shadow ball it doesn't get past Rotom. Also Torterra, Azumarill, Kabutops..
- Claydol - Can only come in on Sceptile locked in the wrong attack or an EQ from Torterra. Everything kills it off though.
- Clefable - Encore screws up Subsplit Rotom, but it can't take hits from Azumarill and Torterra.
- Cloyster - Kabutops spins, assuming no Ice Shard Sceptile OHKO's it, and Rotom nails it as well.
- Cradily – Torterra can work assuming it gets in VERY QUICKLY. Preferably before it gets to set up. No really, with no taunt nor encore on this team + no fighters, this one craps on it completely. :<
- Donphan - Sceptile, Torterra, Rotom to some extent (Assurance hurts w/ LO)
- Drapion - Torterra, to some extent. Azumarill can also kill it off.
- Drifblim - Never seen one. Rotom lol's at it, Houndoom lol's at it, Sceptile asks it to go die in a corner.
- Dugtrio - You cannot counter this. Anyway all the things it "should" try to trap on this team can KO it (Kabu has A-jet, Houndoom has Sucker)
- Feraligatr - Sceptile. If it doesn't DD Rotom works as well.
- Hariyama - A real pain no matter what. Azumarill can kill it, but not without taking some heavy damage in the process. Rotom outspeeds and can also kill it with T-bolt, but Payback hurts :<
- Hitmonlee - CB set can be predicted around. Priority kills it off too.
- Hitmontop - Rotom, though the only thing that really hates its presence is Houndoom, since Kabu tends to die early.
- Houndoom - Azu and Tops. Sceptile can kill it off too.
- Kabutops - A pain in the rain, though Sceptile kills it.
- Lanturn - It walls Houndoom, though that is it. Torterra wrecks it.
- Leafeon – Houndoom can kill it off if it is not running max speed :x Also gets lured in by Azu, and Rotom can do a number to it any day.
- Ludicolo – In rain this would probably rape me if it ever got the chance. Sceptile fails to OHKO with leaf storm (65.12% - 77.08%), though if it decides to kill it I could SP it with Houndoom. Nothing can switch into it in rain though.
- Mesprit – Depends on the set. Rotom is in general a decent answer to it, and Houndoom can do tons to it.
- Milotic – Azumarill can switch into most sets. Rotom kills it if it gets a free switch, and Sceptile can switch into Surf and KO.
- Mismagius – Sceptile, Azu, Kabutops to a lesser extent. Houndoom can SP it.
- Moltres – Kabutops! Also I heard Azumarill isn't half bad either. Houndoom + Rotom outspeeds it as well and can DPulse/ Tbolt it.
- Nidoking – Azumarill, Rotom, Sceptile can revenge. Kabutops works to a lesser extent.
- Nidoqueen – Same as above.
- Omastar – Sceptile smashes it even in rain. Rotom can kill it barring that.
- Poliwrath – Rotom and Sceptile.
- Qwilfish – If it is defensive, Kabu can take most of its attacks and spin. Offensive SD in rain can be revenged by Sceptile again. Rotom outspeeds it outside of rain.
- Regirock – Yet to encounter one. Loses to Torterra all night long, and Azumarill + Kabutops sink it. Can also be revenged by Tile.
- Registeel – Houndoom, Rotom craps on it. Also Torterra is having fun due to immunity to para.
- Rhyperior – Torterra + Rotom can switch in. Kabutops, Sceptile and Azu all kill it.
- Rotom – Scarf is predicted around, though I usually have to sack something to break its sub if I don't feel like showing Torterra off. Defensive gets slaughtered by Doom and Rotom.
- Sceptile – Sceptile. Houndoom can also kill it half-way decently.
- Scyther – Priority, especially Kabutops.
- Slowbro – Torterra can't be para'd, so it is probably the best switch-in. Sceptile can kill it, as can Rotom and Houndoom if it is a bit weakened.
- Spiritomb – Houndoom. Sceptile can do loads to it as well, and Torterra mashes it.
- Steelix – Torterra can switch into pretty much anything. Rotom can then go to take the explosion, and serves as a semi-decent check itself.
- Swellow – Priority + Scarftile
- Tangrowth – Scarftile + Azu can lure it.
- Torterra – RP variants can be weakened by A-jet then killed by sceptile.
- Toxicroak – Rather annoying if it is NP @ Vacuum. Rotom kills it off though.
- Umbreon – Houndoom can set up on it, kinda. Walls Rotom, but it can weaken it enough for it to be killed by Houndoom
- Uxie – Houndoom. Rotom works fairly well too. (set up bait)
- Venusaur – Houndoom can take the sleep. Rotom can then take the "EQ" and sub up. Shadow Ball is a 2hko on offensive versions. Also Torterra can do loads with EQ to it as well.
- Weezing – Houndoom can absorb WOW. Other than that, Rotom kills it off as well while resisting poison and pain splitting off the damage
Probably has a lot of weaks I've yet to cover, but that is where you guys are supposed to help. I've considered Scarf Venu >> Scarf Tile as it still checks DD Gatr, leaves me better off vs Hariyama, and to absorb T-spikes which really would be an asset, but that leaves me more open to RD teams. As you can probably see by the threat list, I'm also being a bit annoyed by stuff that resists water + dark priority. Thanks for reading, and please help me out!
