Ok, so, i had been working on a deck idea for about a month or so. I would love to claim this idea as my own however my friend came up with the basic concept... i just refined it and gave it its kill condition. As far as i know its completely original.
I threw the deck together as best as i could in time for a unlimited tournament, and even without having it the way i wanted it, i still swept the feild to take first.
Without having much knowledge of new cards or the meta-game for the Unlimited format i feel slightly stifled by my ignorace. Either way with it being my first tournament in 8 years, and still taking first over a couple of the states top players, i think i might be onto something. You be the judge.
This deck is not a beatdown deck, it is completely stratigy based, thus it must be looked at as such. Please keep that in mind.
Pokemon (12)
3x Lugia (Secret Wonders)
4x Azurill (Diamond and Pearl)
1x Minun (Deoxys)
3x Mawile (Crystal Guardians)
1x Luvdisc (Crystal Guardians)
Trainers (33)
4x Super Energy Removal
4x Energy Removal
3x Computer Search
2x Item finder
3x Professor Oak
1x Erika
1x Felicity's Drawing
2x Professor Oak's New Theory
2x Professor Elm
4x Gust of Wind
4x Scoop Up
2x Swoop! Teleporter
1x Switch
Energies (15)
4x Recycle Energy
2x Double Colorless Energy
4x Metal Energy
5X Psychic Energy
The Gameplan for this deck if fairly complicated, but here it goes.
Using Azurill or Minun ur going to idealy return Energy Removal or Super Energy Removal from your discard pile to your hand every turn. This depend greatly on the situation. (example: you can return Gust of Wind back to hand to bring out a pokemon with attacks that only cost 2 or more with a retreat cost of 1 or more which will essentialy give the same effect of returning Energy removal every turn.) Seeing as your opponent can normaly only attach one energy every turn, he will be getting no where fast.
Mawile works basicly like a Computer Search every turn except u can only get trainers (which is not a problem). So ur going to want to pull out a few Energy Removals, or whatever you might need... Gust, Scoop, Switch, Oak, or whatever, even an actual computer search if needed.
Luvdisc is there if u start with a lugia as your only basic. you can Swoop! in Luvdisc and get a good setup going. Then you can either use it as a scapegoat or simpley retreat, Switch it, or Scoop it up.
Lugia is the Beatstick, and the only Beatstick that the deck has. What will happen is you will use and return an energy removal every turn... Eventualy your opponent will miss a energy drop, which means you dont have to use a Removal that turn, so you return a second one... then a third... then a forth and so on untill you have accumulated 5-6 removals. Once you have a handfull of Removals you bring out Lugia. Lugia's second attack hit for 120 if there are no energies attached to the defending pokemon, and there wont be if played correctly. So Lugia pretty much means that your opponent is on a 6 turn clock, and they are going to have to figue out how to deal 90 damage with no energies.
There is an alot more to explain about this deck, however if u look up the cards alot of it will be self explanitory. There are a couple of decks that i have heard about that would give this deck some problems, but it seems pretty verastile so far. I havent had a problem with Typhlosion prime or Feraligatr prime which i thought would be tough. Although the first turn kill deck and the new baby deck (that runs 0 energies) would probebly stomp this deck.
But anyway, thats the deck. Please rate and comment.
