If you just want to trade between GSC and RBY/GSC just buy a GBC from a pawn shop. They're dirt cheap, and they'll do the job.

Also note that you need a GameBoy link cable. I don't think that the GBA link cable works for older games.

I have another similar question to this, or problem, actually....

I play Crystal on my GameBoy SP... my brother has GBA, and he has Pokemon Gold...
When I tried to trade w/ my brother, this problem occurred:

On his Pokemon Gold, everytime he tried to talk to lady at the trading section in the pokemon center, the lady kept saying "I'm sorry, but the trade machine is down"....

Does anyone know what the problem could be, and/or a possible solution for it?
    Thanks

Well, in terms of Gym Badges, he has all 16; 8 in johto & the 8 in kento....

He has 227 pokemon in the pokedex, but I doubt that has anything to do w/ that problem.... Weird, as I haven't seen or heard of anything like this happening in any of the other pokemon GB games...

Hmm... I was thinking maybe he wasn't far enough... >.o

Does it work if he tries to trade with anyone else?

the only solution i can think )because i was in a similar situation) is when trading, use two GB Colors and a Gameboy Color Link Cable. if u try it with GBA and a GBA link cable, it will not work (period). for 1st and 2nd gen pokemon games (except crystal) u can also use two old Gameboys and an old gameboy link cable

Thanks Murpheos & JK Pichu for your help !

What Murpheos said was Exactly the problem....
When we (my brother & I) both switched to game boy colors, the trade & battling worked out just fine. Didn't think that would make a difference, but it did... Again, thanks.
