Yes this does sound like a newbish thread but i have a more specific idea in mind

I read somewhere that you could trade from diamond to pearl pearl to pearl or diamond to diamond yourself using 1 DS and i was wondering if this is true to wether i get 2 cheap ds' or one expensive one as i have yet to get one. i was thinking that if you set the trade to a specific friend code then you could do it but i dont know can you?

Yes, you can trade with yourself if you have two DSs. Google, Magazines and Stores are a great resource to buy a secon done.

Once you've got one, just use the friend-code of the other game in the DSs and initiate a normal WiFi trade.
Quite simple, actually.

Another methode using 1 DS would be to set up your Pokémon in the GTS, and offering a very common Pokémon, like Bippa, then requesting the one that you want to trade for.
Now switch your games, go to the GTS again, and use the trade you have set up before to trade the Pokémon from one game to the other.
