2nd Gen trading with GEN I and GEN II

first -- can you do it from G/S/C to yellow? I mean, there's new pokemans... and I want to get crystal and it would be pretty cash if I could trade with my yellow.

second -- is it done with the infared thing at the top? or do you need some sort of cable?

First — I believe so, via the time capsule. You can't trade second generation Pokemon or any Pokemon that know a second generation move to a first generation game, though.

Second — You need a link cable. The IR device on the Gameboy Colour is only used for mystery gifts.
