3rd Gen Trading???

i have pokemon ruby, sapphire and emerald and my link cable won't let me trade. i have tried all the link cables i can find and buy but they don't work. i have done the elite 4 in all of them.
does any one have any suggestions??

it is your gba and not the cables it could be the GBA's socket at the back not picking up the cables
