So, y'know how you can customize your profile with colors and background images and whatnot? Well I was trying to re-design mine earlier...because...yeah. Meanwhile, I conveniently stumble upon Signomi's profile and it's this beautiful profile with /transparency effects/! My first thought is to wonder how she did that.
So I go look at the customize profiles menu and see that I can use images. It seems to make sense to me at the time that hey, maybe she used a partially transparent .png file as a background image! However, upon creating some simple partially transparent .pngs myself, I found that that didn't work. I did set all my background colors to blank, as well.
My profile currently uses said .png files, and my albums which contain them are public, so you can go download and verify that they are in fact transparent (See: Requires an image editing tool better than MSPaint)
Yet, I want to be able to see through them to the background image. Other than some fancy editing where she created a very convincing illusion of transparency, I have no further guess as to how this was done and how I can do it.
I'm unable to access the files Signomi used, so I can't really see whether they're actually transparent or just a really good illusion.
So the question is... how can I achieve that transparent table effect? How is it done?
