2nd Gen Trouble with gold and transfer pak

Can anyone help me with my problem? Hello I've been trying to play gold and traded over eggs from further in game from crystal, (via N64,). Everything worked fine then the next day gold wouldn't work in the transfer pak. I switched controllers and paks but nothing worked. My other games work in the paks, but not gold. Gold also works in all my gameboys so I don't know the problem. I should mention I replaced the save battery myself but don't think that is the issue cause I've done it with all games and have tried carefully checking it and making sure nothing is in the wrong place. Anyone know of how to fix this? I really want to trade my kadabra over and back and don't want to progress further in the game till then.

Perhaps the contact points in the cartridge need to be cleaned? That's the only thing I can think of in this case. I would take a q-tip and some all-purpose cleaner like Windex and just barely wet the q-tip and clean Gold's contact points. Then try connecting it with the transfer pak after that and see if that works. If not, then I can only assume there's some sort of internal issue with your copy of Gold. It doesn't seem like the transfer pak has any issues if it's working with the other games.
