Trying to Sleep

It's hard to sleep with so many thoughts
But I can't stop thinking.
There's a continuous stream of thoughts
Blocking me from sleeping.

Even though sleep takes time away
It's the great escape I must not miss.
I may lose time from my day,
But I can't forget that tomorrow brings me bliss.

Trapped inside my box of thought
I can't escape.
Locked inside for eternity.
I don't want to escape.

I don't want to sleep.
I want to sleep.
My ideas are suffocating me
But I love it.

Waves of sleep
Crash onto my beach.
But I'm too far into the forest.
Where is the beach?

I'm watching sleep draw closer
But it's unable to reach me.
My thoughts are a veil
So thick it can't see me.

I can't see…
Until I'm asleep.
