So youre trying to get some sprites to do some splice/recolor work. The only problem, when you open them in paint they have a black background. This is due to the fact that the sprite has a transparent background. In this tutorial I will teach you how to utilize these sprites. Basically there are three easy ways to do this.

    Way #1:

    Things you will need:
1.A website that has the sprites youre trying to use
2.Either "Microsoft Word" or "Open Office.Org"(I reccomend open office because micrsoft word has a tendency to mess up the sprites colors)

    Steps:
1.Go to the website that has the sprite youre trying to use and copy the sprite
2.Open either "Microsoft Word" or "Open Office.Org" and paste the sprite into the text document.
3.Either cut or copy the sprite out of the text document
4.Open paint and paste the sprite you just cut/copied from the text document.

Now if you used "Open Office.Org" you have the sprite in full color. However if you used "Microsoft Word" you will have to get the original sprite from the website and paste it next to the sprite from "Microsoft Word" in paint and use the dropper and filler tools to fix the colors. If you want to avoid using the filler tool then select the the dropper tool and left click on the color you want to change. Then select the dropper tool again and right click on the color youre changing the the left clicked color to. Now select the eraser tool and while holding down the right mouse button run the eraser over the color youre changing.

    Way #2:

1.Go to the website that has the sprite youre trying to use and push the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard.
    Spoiler:

This will take a snapshot of what you currently have showing on your computer screen so be sure to have the sprite on the screen.
2.Open paint and go to edit then hit paste. This will paste the screenshot you just took of your screen.
3.Using the select tool seperate the sprite from the rest of the image and either cut or copy it
4.After cutting/copying the sprite go to file and hit new. Simply paste the sprite into the new canvas and you should have a full color sprite.

    Way #3:

right click over the image and hit save picture as.

As always be sure to save the sprites in .png format

    Here is the best way.
It goes right click, save as. Then open in paint.

I don't see why anyone would use your long method.

I'm almost certain it's a browser issue, not one with Paint.

If you use Firefox or IE, it copies the image and replaces transparency with black. However, in Opera, it's white, which causes much fewer problems.

Not that everyone cares enough to switch browsers, but if anyone is bugged by it and wants a quick, permanent fix, and doesn't really care for their current browser: use Opera.

Does anyone else care to test this and make sure it's not just me? XD

I just download the full sets here, and use "Paste From..." in Paint.
