Ultimate Pokemon Gold Lineup

Got 1 response in the Other Games forum, hopefully get more answers in the right one :)
I'm soon gonna pick up my Pokemon Gold after it's been collecting dust for so long, and I plan to complete the whole game. Instead of just starting with my starter pokemon and building as I go, I'm gonna breed & trade in the ultimate team. Any suggestions? My current selection is:

Feraligatr, Charizard, Exeggutor, Piloswine, Jolteon, and Heracross (all in base form obviously)

those pokemon look good to me. when you can get a larvitar, drop piloswine for tyranitar
