Unbelievable combo

    Ok, I was playing my friend in Magic (he's unbelievable) and he pulled this combo on me that absolutely amazed me.

    Necromancer (give up one life to draw a card, skip your draw phase)
    *something* (that one card that gives you no hand size limit)
    Ivory towers (gain a life at your upkeep for each card in your hand past 4)
    *somthing* (that one enchanment that destroys any creature once it's put into play, but you can negate tha effect by giving up your next turn)

    He basically drew out about 20 cards a turn, and if he had 2 ivory towers out, he would gain....a LOT of life during his upkeep. Have any of you heard of this combo or do you have something that can improve it?

    okay. First of all, this is a type 1 combo that costs as much as the following combo:

    Krark-Clan Ironworks (cost 4) + 2 Myr retriever (cost 2 each, only needs one in play tho) + Disciple of the Vault (costs 1)
    ^ Everyone but you dies, infinite damage

    Well aside from that, I'll see what I can do.

    The two somethings are Spellbook (from some set and 8th edition, btw, it's the no hand size one.) and lethal vapours (from scourge)

    Anyway, to necropotence...the days...

    Sorry, got sidetracked. Anyway, I think I might be able to whip something up. Probably blue as usual...let's see...

    Nope, being sleep deprived doesn't help me at thinking up things at all. I can figure things out for speeding the combo up, but I can't think of a crazy combo other than channel + blaze with all that life. Even then, it's not very efficient as you pay more life than what you gain.

    how to speed things up:
    get black lotus, lotus petal, moxes, etc. Use vampiric tutor, mystic tutor, enlightened tutor to find waht you need.
    Then you can finish things off with channel + fireball.

    As for improving on the combo, I dont' think you CAN. The fact that Necropotence isn't DRAWING cards don't help at all. Again, I don't think there's a way to improve on things around here, but you only need 1 turn to win anyway with channel + fireball. It's off colour too, and I don't really like it. I don't think there's a way to convert mana quickly and easily to work it either...at least efficiently.

    OMG! I GOT IT! TEST OF ENDURANCE! GAIN LIFE AS WINNING CONDITION!

    Then again, not so good. Off colour, but might be good with enlightened tutor there.

    His entire deck was black...it consisted mostly of cards that got rid of creatures (diabolic edict). He had 4 dark ritual I think so he got out necropotence in the first or second turn...and lethal vapors is cheap, and spellbook costs nothing and ivory towers costs one (and he had demonic tutor) he got em out really fast...

    EDIT: OH MY GOSH!!

    I remember now, he had this one card that allowed you to take your opponents next turn. And on that he would get rid of the lethal vapors so his opponent would miss the next 2 turns...then he'd bring out this card that said...

    "put flying demon creature token into play with power and toughness equal to your life total..."

    and since he took my next turn, he just attacked and owned me..it's a good combo
     
    library of leng totally beats spell book, and it only costs 1 colorless...btw read the spirit of resistance, something lace, 9changes permanent u control to ne # of color(s), and sterling grove (eachother enchantment YOU CONTROL cannot be target of spells/abilites, and having 2 would prevent all your enchantments from being targeted, and would be only destroyed with hush, tranquility etc.
    MY BRO IS MAKING A 100 CARD ECK AND IS USING PROBABLY GONNA USE THE FOLLOWING CARDS... CAN U CRITIQUE HIS COMBO: (library of lang, future sight, and dream halls)

    leng is usually the better choice in this case considering that leng has secondary abilities along with the no hand limit.

    The card that takes control of turns is mindslaver (cost 6, 4 to activate)
    With lethal vapours, it's basically 2 turns gone for the opponent, yes.

    I don't know the life total demon token tho. It MIGHT be hand count, since you do have lots of cards in hand. If that's the case, it's called promise of power (and you also can draw 5 cards and lose 5 life along with the token).

    And kirby, I can see the brokenness. lol :P

    Promise of power! that's it...what else did he have...OH YES!!

    He had this enchanment card where it said

    "if you discard and pay (some amount of mana) you can copy a sorcery's spell and play an additional effect of that card"

    heh...he once had 2 lethal vapors out, he mind slaved me and used two of those enchamnets with both lethal vapors...I lost my next 5 turns :P

    I don't know that one, if it's black (did a search for it, couldn't find it).

    Okay, checking up on the ruling of lethal vapours, I'm pretty sure you'll lose all your turns with a single vapour. Technically you can pay 0 over and over again before resolution. Then upon resolution, lethal vapours dieover and over again (tho it's goneafter the first), but the ability continues to resolve. Technically speaking, you would have lost all turns with one vapours. lol
     
    Wow...I should tell him that...heh...I remember I once beat that deck within the first few round only because he could never get anything more than 1 black mana...man he hated me for that for a while..HAHA!

    lol. mana screwed is not a good thing. neither is mana flood.

    Anyway, yeah I checked it out. The wording on vapours is identical to eater of days. Since eater of days' ability does cause loss of 2 turns, then 4 turns, etc, I have no doubt lethal vapours is the same.

    btw, it'll be funny if you play a tinker w/charbelcher deck against him. It's like turn 2 kill versus turn 2 kill. lol
     
    my friend plays a goblin deck (extended) with only 11 manas it's amazing of how he can still kick @$ with 11 mana
    but it's a goblin deck (no kings here folks,IMO kings are so ever played)
     
    yeah and i still don't get why everyone plays with kings
    THEY SUCK!!!
     
    yeah he's got piledrivers,sharpshooter,and seige-gang commanders (dunno why he uses them)
     
    do you guys know of any good combos for the cards that say

    "If you do this and that and stand on your head you win the game instantly"

    Cause my friend has quite a few of those cards...and this friend is a different one than the one I mentioned up top..
