[PBS Question] Unknown ID error when referencing a new species

Hello! I came across a problem that I don't really know how to solve.

I added a new Pokémon species, following the wiki. I added an entry at the end of the pokemon.txt file in PBS, with all the necessary stuff, being careful with the number order, the square brackets, the name, internalname... I also added all the images (front, back, icon, footsteps and their shiny counterparts) and the cry audio.

When I try to use it on a game event, choosing one of the initials with pbAddPokemon(:MOCHI, 5), it throws an error of unknown ID.

I tried countless things: deleting another Pokémon and put this one in its place, being ultra careful with whitespaces, spacing or linebreaks, and nothing seems to work.

In the end, I renamed all the pictures and audios to "MELMETAL" and used :MELMETAL in the code. I changed all of Melmetal's specs in pokemon.txt to the ones of my new Pokémon, and what I found is that the images and audio are changed correctly. It's my Pokémon what appears. But the rest of specs (stats, species name, pokédex entry...) remain unchanged, they are still Melmetal's, so what is happening is that RPGMaker XP or something is not parsing the PBS/pokemon.txt file, and must be getting its data from some other place. Maybe data/species.dat?

I ran out of ideas about what could be happening, if someone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
