Using the same move two times in row

Hello all, my 7 year old daughter is the real pokemon fan and entered her first tournament this weekend. She won 2 and lost 2. One of the young boys she played against told her you cannot use the same move two times in a row unless you apply more energy to that active pokemon. I have searched and searched and can't find this in any rule books. Together we are just learning the rules and she was too shy to ask a judge. Can anyone confirm this for me? She lost that match and I just want to help her be prepared for the next match. Thanks very much!

If you have enouch energy for a move, you can use it as many times as you want (but once each turn).

No, this is not a real rule. Unless the move description says you need to discard (X) amount of energy in order to use the attack, you can use the attack as long as you have previously attached the correct amount of energy.

If you havn't already, you should both watch the "How to play" demo on go-pokemon.com
    https://go-pokemon.com/tcg/howtoplay/demo/
You'll see that in between the "playing the game" section of the demo and "knocking out a Pokemon" section, you have the option of using the same move that you did before OR the Pokemon's other move. So, you can in fact use the same move as many times in a row as you want, as long as the Pokemon has the correct amount of energy and isn't affected by some condition that makes it unable to attack.

If in doubt about any rules, you should always ask a judge. Tell your daughter she doesn't need to be shy of them; they love Pokemon just as much as she does!

Thank you for all the responses! I told my daughter this morning and I think this may have given her the courage to ask the next time someone tells her something new :-) Thanks again! We're off to watch the how to play video now...
