[Other] Vars

I've just got into hacking and i'm hoping someone here can help me. I'm making reasonable progress with scripts, but i'm having some difficulty with using vars and working out how they relate to script boxes in Advance Map.

If anyone could give me a few pointers or link me to a thread with the relevant information, i'd be grateful.

I've tried searching myself, so either my searching skills are woefully inadequate, or such a thread simply doesn't exist.
