Waiting for a Competitive Team...

    Hi guys,

I have just beat the Pkmn League so I'm starting to breed some Pokémon.

Obviously I have to wait a bit before to have a decent Team and I would ask you a thing: it is possible to fight online without loosing everytime only with an In-Game Team (maybe EV trained and with a good moveset)?

Or I have "simply" to wait to have at least a team with 5 31 IVs?

Really depends on your opponent. I personally am new at comp. battle myself so
I can't answer your question with 100%. When I've read some stuff on the forums,
I get the feeling comp. battle is mostly with bred teams.

If you want to fight me, I'm okay with fighting with my in-game team :D Just finished the league as well

I believe that this is in the wrong part of the forums (I think it should be in the Battle Center Sub-Forum), however, I will still post here. I myself am a very new competitive battler and personally do not have enough time to breed 5 IV pokemon, so personally I just aim to get my pokemon with the correct nature, and 3 of the most important IVs maxed out. In my opinion (which isn't very good since I'm a newbie), IVs being maxed out is more trouble than its worth. I believe having the 2-3 IVs most important being maxed is good enough, as most Pokes rarely can fulfill a role of a Defensive Wall & Offensive Sweeper at the same time.

So, I can try to breed Pkmn that have Nature/3 IVs that is more easy and at least have some decent practice online...

Good idea! Better than an In-Game Team...

Rated battles ban Legends which makes things a bit more fair.

Less people do double battles, so their are fewer game-breakers in there.

I would try doing that. Also, Team strategy is more important that stats.

Most of my team are even lucky to have 2 perfect IVs, but yet I still win the majority of the battles I do on battle spot :)!

Key is just have a good selection of pokemon with a good movepool that compliment each other, do your EV training, and you should do fine.

However if you are losing a majority of your battles, it may mean not that your IVs are bad, but instead a pokemon(s) is holding you back.. like my original battle team use to include a lapras and sylveon.. Lapras even had all the perfect IVs in the desirable stats, fully ev trained, Tank build.. but yet it still got slaughtered... all because it was "too slow!" for my needs, and sylveon was too weak, regardless if it was effective against it's opponents, and generally outsped. but as soon as i swapped them out with a mewtwo and blaziken, I went from winning maybe 30% of battles to winning 70%, then with some further tweaking, move pool changes, team member changes, slowly increased the % of winning :)!!

What really helped me raise my percentage is recently I respec'd/changed around my team and strategy to deal with the Japanese Pokemon Bank Transfered Uber Over-Powered Previous Generation Legendaries, such as Darkrai, Arceus, Dialga, etc.. And in doing so, it made my team effective and efficient against the non-legendary Pokemon too :D!

It depends on what Pokémon you have. If they're strong enough, are EV-trained, have good natures and abilities, and decent movesets, then yes, chances are you could be winning online battles with them. :] Also, this thread fits better in Battle Center, so I'm moving it there.

    Thread moved.

You don't necessarily NEED IV bred Pokemon in order to win battles. They're just optimized to make the best of what they've got. What you DO need is the correct nature, the correct EVs, and practice battling. You can have a flawless team built but it means nothing if you don't know how to utilize it. You can also have a team with funky IVs everywhere and be able to battle very efficiently. My opinion is that speed is the most important IV out of all of them because it determines who attacks first. That one you may want to maximize... or minimize.
