It's annoying, and my team is horrible against it. I need something that can learn Flamethrower so I can attack it directly. Unfortunately, the Game Corner taunts me into punching my game because I always get two 7s, but the last one is always on the top or bottom.

    Any help?

Go catch a machop or a geodude or an meditite, so you can use ground or fighting moves to kill Wattsons team expecially his magneton. ;]

You know, you can buy coins. That's what I usually do.

Um, you can catch a Numel (I think), but it doesn't learn FT until Level 41... I think you'd just be better off trying to get the TM. (Or, as the above poster said, find a different attack to use).

Thanks, guys. Glitter Stain, I forgot about buying coins. Thanks for reminding me. XD

I'll go and catch a Geodude or something.

You can also use Rock Smash, a weak fighting HM move given to by a person in the low, right hand corner of Mauville City.

I'd just stick with a Geodude. Level it, because sonicboom takes 20hp worth of damage. You could suggest EV training it at Rusturf tunnel, but EV's don't kick in until at least level 50 I think...
It would also help if you posted your team.
Beleive it or not, I beat him with nothing but my Aron's mud slap.
    400% effective?
    Hell yes.
Mind you, I had to use quite a few X Specials.

Hey, lol. I trained up my Grovyle and Kirlia to godly heights so I could kill it using Psychic. Not a OHKO, mind you, but good nonetheless.

I'd recommend either Machop or Machoke for this battle, simply because Ground type moves are out of the question due to levitate, and the attacks should be super effective.

Levitate is the main problem though, that means that it dodges ground type attacks.

    Magneton doesnt have Levitate though...

I am going to apologize now because what I am going to say can be considered rude and I will probably be warned for being a mini-mod, but I have to say this. I just hope those that have posted here can accept some constructive criticism.

When someone asks a questions, they are hopefully expecting good information in return. If you are unsure or not experienced enough to provide the answer, PLEASE do not post. While you think you might be helping, all you are really doing is increasing your post count, and providing inaccurate information that only wastes the time of not only the person who asked the question, but many other members here that would read it and think that it was correct information. Before you provide an answer, at least research it and make sure what you are offering is correct.

I won't single anyone out in particular, but here are a few facts:

    * The best Pokemon to use against Wattson is a Ground-type (Mudkip, Geodude, etc.) that is immune to Electric attacks.

    * EV points accumulate with every battle a Pokemon participates in. Every 4 EV points earned in one stat will increase that stat by 1 point the next time it levels up. There is no minimum level.

    * X Special has no effect whatsoever on a physical move like Mud Slap. Those X items are a complete waste of money anyway, but that is a topic for another time.

    * Unless it was changed in DPP, Magneton does not have the Levitate Ability. It has either Magnet Pull or Sturdy. I always suggest Magnet Pull, as it allows you to switch into Steel-types and prevent them from switching out, allowing you to KO them easily.

You should research each classes weaknesses. However sometimes its not all about weaknesses its all about how you use pokemon. E.g. water types can beat electric types if they use strategy.

Learn the moves your pokemon has got and you will win.

    (Training is essential as well)

To be honest you can easily beat his whole team with a lv 24+ starter,it took me my combusken and only him to beat him while he was lv 24,just use double kick and fire type moves to take out Magnemite and Magneton,as for Voltorb,he's easy garbage,Amber does fina against him.

Just something I'd like to add: I didn't need to use super effective moves to beat Watson. I had a Sceptile in the 20's of levels, and I defeated his entire team with Leaf Blade, despite it being not very effective.

Thats exactly what i said, any starter in the lv 20s can own Wattson's entire team

While that is entirely possible, this is just another example of the in-game AI causing bad strategy You can level up ANY Pokemon high enough to defeat the weak gym trainers. The purpose of the gym leaders is to teach type advantage, which it apparently doesn't excel too well at.

While I am at it, I would like to point out that a Lv16 Marshtomp can do the same damage to a Lv24 Manectric with Mud Shot that a Lv24 Grovyle can do with Giga Drain. Not to mention the fact that Marshtomp cannot be hit by Manectric's STAB attacks. That is the importance of type advantage. Not having to level up your Pokemon so much unnecessarily also cuts down on overall game time.

You'd be right; especially since the NPCs are too stupid to carry HP Grass on their Manectrics.

Although, I think in the 3rd and 4th Gen, Gyms are more of an annoyance than anything else. In GSC especially, you hardly had to level up at all as long as you used super effective moves. Since that's not so in RSE, it's pretty apparent that you'd have to mindlessly level up your mons regardless of type effectiveness.

Agreed. That is one of the many reasons why I don't like DPP and refuse to waste any of my hard earned money on it. After moving to the DS platform, Game Freak had the opportunity to take the Pokemon franchise to a level they could never reach before. The processor is definitely ample enough that it could have handled a complete restructure of the format, allowing for better gameplay, smarter AI, and even difficulty levels. They also could have included ALL the regions on top of it!

But, GF is only interested in the bottom line and knew that they could put out the same concept and it would still generate a profit, especially since it would increase their DS sales to boot.
