I not a massive fan of the series but their was some things that were handled well of a least had a lot of potential

the character's

as a character I felt that iris had some real potential if handled better she generally had a interesting personality and her focus episodes were great at showing how three dimensional she could be

Cilan they could have done far more in terms of development but they did do a good job of making him different from brock and I found he didn't fade into the back ground as much as brock sadly was at times

team rocket trio it was a good idea to have them appear less often and make them some what more serious with out going to far like they did

battle tournament's

it's a good way to show ash and his rivals interacting in battle

I think the Battle Tournaments were the best thing about Unova. It showed what pokemon was really about, but god.... why couldn't Ash win at least one of them... Especially after he got Krookodile. He should have won at least 1.... especially after he lost in the League to a trainer with 5 pokemon....

Team Rocket - I think Team Rocket was far far better in this saga. I liked how they appeared less and were far smarter. I also really love the fact that Giovanni FINALLY made an appearance in front of Ash... I just with Giovanni had said something like...

"Ash Ketchum.... so you are the one who has been getting in Team Rocket's way in Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh and now Unova."

Giovanni finally appearing before Ash was just amazing... And I really hope it foretells a conflict near the end that will be about the end of Team Rocket. I am also wanting Giovanni to appear more like he did in Unova.

Team Plasma Arc - I will be honest, I have not watched all of the Plasma Arc episodes, but from what I have seen, I really loved it.

I think Unova suffered because they had to cancel 2 major episode with Team Rocket vs Team Plasma. There is no telling how many episodes they had to ditch and rewrite, which I think may be another reason why the development suffered so much.
