So why did they change the tcg rules so that you can only use the new ex cards in battling? That puts about 2000 cards of mine out of commission. Thats a lot of money. I have decks I cant use and to start over with nothing is such a low blow. Is there anything I can do?

I don't know, but that puts about all my cards out of commission!
I was trying to colect all of first seson, and I have almost sucseeded, but is sucks that you can only use ex cards now, it really sucks...

It is just a new format. Same as when Modified came out and everyone was playing Unlimited and people got mad. It just depends on where you play, if you play in any tournaments and what format they use there. There is still going to be places that play Unlimited and Modified.

I hear you all! But ya got to conform to ther new formats. Luckily I was able to get a head start on everything once they originally changed the format and won quite a few major competition tournaments and won boxes of the new sets.. If all you have are old decks and don't want t get into the whole EX trend you are wise. Just play for fun and stayout of the main tourneys.

;-; Yah, does be putting 400 or so of my cards o/o/c.

I collect the new ones though. ^^ So doesn't worry me too much. ^___^

What I find annoying is that to compensate for this, the EX sets have been giving us "retrained" versions of older Trainer cards.

Now some of 'em are still the same (eg. Switch, Energy Search), but others are just toned down versions of the originals (eg. Pok?mon Reversal, Energy Removal 2).

It annoys me because the only real abundance of Energy cards I have in my EX collection were gathered from the two EX: Sandstorm decks, so I've only got a bunch of Grass, Water, Fire, and Fightning energy cards, -_-

Dude that is not right I don't have one EX card but I have a full box of pokemon cards I am saying about two thousand

Yeah, the majority of my cards are from the previous sets, well, it's safe to say that any decks I build are a heck of a lot better when made using my older cards, I just don't have enough EX cards to make anything decent.

It's like when you get a few packs of a new set, and you get the first and last evolution for a Pok?mon, but then you're missing the middle one, now think of that with most of the EX Pok?mon, *shudder*

Oh, and BTW PC2k4, that is one cool avatar, a DBZ fan, yays!

Anyways, back on topic... luckily, there aren't really any tourneys near where I live, so I guess that I don't really need to worry that much, ^_^

Also you guys should know if a card was reprinted you can use the older one if you prefer.
That is only if the old card and the new reprinted card do the same thing.

another possible reason is that they just want a bit more cash... balance of course, but hey they can always use another flow-in of income.

I'm more angry at the rules done to the status changes and dark/steel energy... they're much worse. Confuse is just stupid now as well. Switching is even more important than ever as you will need it to try to survive confuse/poison/too many status. Paralyze is suddenly the Lord of PTCG because it prevents switching... >>; The 2 special energy also got the nerf-stick whack too... eeks >>

Yes, frosty is right. Also, you know...? If you sent out an ordinary basic Pokemon if it was confused it would last about one turn confused, maybe two if you got bad luck.

The reason the makers come out with reprinted cards that DO NOT do the same thing as the old ones are because people find out new strategies to PWN everyone with the cards, such as Base Set Blastoise's Rain Dance (which unlike Blastoise EX, doesn't make you add a damage counter to the pokemon who the water energy is being attached to.) If they didn't make the new reprinted version, everyone would probably be playing Base Set Blastoise and Suicune EX and PWNing everyone with it. People do that still, but with Blastoise EX, but Suicune doesn't last as long.
